Kompackt Player and Bidule,..of course w/ Scope and GVI

Post by dawman »

I am so disgusted with my Hohner D6 library, and it's lame release samples that make me feel like I'm scratching a duck's beak, that I can't wait for developers for Giga to come forward any longer.

I have tried many developers, and they are nowhere near as good as Scarbee's stuff. Therefore I am buying his D6 and want to begin to use a Wah-Wah from Flexor II hopefully, or SpaceF has hinted he might do.

The sound of a Hohner D6 Clavinet through a wah-wah, and other FX, as well as half muted, muted, or wide open is just awesome. I played one for years and have the chops, but mostly do it on synths, but synths and wah-wah's don't mix very well. Hence the need for Scarbee. But then that makes me go to the VSTi thing, which I believe would be stable, as Bidule has proven to be w/ GVI, and Scope.

Do we have any Kontackt guys in our ranks? If it crashes I really need to know, as I have been spoiled w/ Scope / Giga DAW's. Crashes during a gig would devastate me, and only give my enemies cannon fodder.

Have you tried Wax from SpaceF - part of Black Box. It's the best and most versatile virtual Wah-wah I've played.

You're right about the D6 / wah-wah combination - in the right hands it's killer. If only I had the chops. What's that you say? Practice? Hmm, maybe I'll give that a try one day.

I use Kontakt2 regulary as standalone on the gigs w/ the mac book or in the studio w/ PC (standalone or as vsti). Absolutely no crashes. At least I never had one.

Also Kontakts little brother the Kompakt in all those sample libraries or NI things like the elektrik piano are solid. I can trust them.

And a live player steps up to the plate............way back,...way back,.....it could be,.... it is,....a home run !!!

If CW says it's the kind, then that's all I need to hear. I will have this installed by a pro in a couple of weeks, along w/ new cards, and lot's of new toys also.

Mehdi told me about Wax, and I forgot. No wonder he doesn't want my money. I practically told him to take it. He is a good honest man, that's for sure.

BTW, if you want to hear some good D6 chops, check out Headhunters, Thrust, and Man Child by Herbie Hancock. It isn't the most dancable , but the best sounding D6 wah shit I am aware of.

Brotha Man Ben,
I forgot to ask. Have you played his DXD synth much?
For a singer guitar guy, he sure makes great delays FX, and synths. I can't imagine Mehdi singing Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young type stuff, but more like Al DiMeola, or Eric Johnson.

What say you Mehdi?

I can do Janis Joplin :-o

samplers is more for rythms here, and i haven't been looking for realism anymore, so small sample banks is something i can do with for a few drum and instruments stuffs. for the moment, i use Reason, because it's the most stable app i have tried, and fun to use for what i do.
Kontakt has great filters and scripting possibilities. It goes more toward a modern workstation, but not very stable on my system (i would probably use it otherwise, for sample playing).
I haven't tried the Giga stuff yet :-o

I coulda swore that I had Scarbee's clav for Giga.

Have you checked Sonic Implants? It looks like they have a vintage keyboard library... hmmm, it's $13. Well, worth a shot.

Bigga Giggas might have something, but it looks like their site is down.

I'll look on my drive tonight for more ideas.

I have those, as well as the Boris D6, and they all suck major hind tit. No release samples makes all sampled content sound so synthy. I have some great Scope Clavs from Pro One, and Solaris as well. But I want the real deal and Scarbees stuff for GS3 was incredible. He knows vintage electro-mechanical as his libraries demonstrate.

I played a D6 back when they were instyle, and I really want to do the wah clavinet thing again, only w/ a Scope based wah-wah. Flexor III has one, but I am busting SpaceF's balls at ther moment for a custom dev. based on Henderix's sound using the mutron bi-phase w/ the C100 expression pedal.

But I Am All Ears If You Come Up w/ SDomething Cool,

Thanks Brotha' Man Synthetic 88,

Jimmy,
if you haven't already tried Wax out, Mehdi's jost posted some really nice video demo's of it on his site:
http://www.spacef-devices.com/dacore/in ... &Itemid=97
and
http://www.spacef-devices.com/dacore/in ... &Itemid=97

The demoes are of guitar, not Clav, but they might give you an idea of how amazingly flexible this effect is - almost a modular Wah pedal.

Ben

PS I think these video demoes are a great way of promoting your devices - really give you a good feel for playability and functionality.
For another great example, see the CC5 video at the bottom of this page:
http://www.spacef-devices.com/dacore/in ... &Itemid=27
No sound, but it really shows what can be done with this very cool tool.

Ben was faster than me :-)

Here is a new one with Phasers and SlapBack delay

Here you can hear and see

This one is a tutorial, the presets are DIY ;-)
Notice that the min/max/int parameters are as important as some filters "In.Mod" for offset.

Filters are important, but the source is too.
In the preset list for download, you will find personal presets made for organs (i use an-osc for organs, but i guess it works with b2003 too). again, min/max/int are important to set to make your wah sound as you want it to be.
Then, it can be adapted for some mixes. For ex, the HighDrix 02 preset, if you set the max just a little bit higher, you can get more electronic sounds, and in some tracks it can be very funky.

have fun.

Mehdi
