BD-1 Bass Drum ... modular module for MOD 2&3 (Now V0.6)

Post by Shroomz~> »

Hello,

I'm pleased to present you with a new kick drum module, the BD-1 :)

It now comes in 2 versions; the new addition being a version with built-in midi (DVC) & note assignment.

Image

The BD-1 Bass Drum is a fat kick drum module for use within the Creamware modular 2 & 3.

On the surface the BD-1 is a simple module with 5 controls:-

TONE (labelled 'T' on surface)
DECAY (labelled 'D' on surface)
TONE MOD (labelled 'TM' on surface)
DECAY MOD (labelled 'DM' on surface)
VOLUME (labelled 'VOL' on surface)

Additionally it has 6 modular jack sockets or 'pads' :-
5 inputs (from left to right) are :- GATE, VEL, E (esync), TM & DM
& 1 output (far right), which is ... well, the output ;)

Under the surface is a different story completely. Here's a basic block diagram >>>

Try patching an envelope to the tone mod (TM) input for some xtra ooomph ;)

*****update:-
V0.4 now available to download !!
- This new version of the BD-1 module is *MUCH less* dsp intensive. ;)
- GUI update.
*****

*****update:-

V0.5 now available to download !!

- Added VOLUME control for attenuating output gain.
- Added a new version with built-in midi (DVC) & note assignment.
- GUI updates

*****

*****update:-

V0.6 now is part of the blue series modules & is available to download on the new thread >>> http://www.planetz.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=21925

not at all !! :)

This is the sort of thing that Red_Muze said he wouldn't do (combining lots of CW atoms & modules into a modular module). This is like a whole beast of a monosynth patched as a booming kick drum inside a little modular module with some basic modulation options that wouldn't be available if we made it into a normal midi controlled scope module in this sort of format.

Anyway, I knew you were joking Mr A. & as you'll see, it's not light on dsp :D

regards,
Shroomz

PS. Hifiboom, thanks for the FB, but one question... Which little gimmics do you mean? :)

Yes, I can imagine the announcement Hifiboom....

"introducing Shroxxer. It's kinda like a micro-flexor, with about a tenth the No' modules, each of which consumes ten times the dsp, but sounds ten times worse than Flexor"

:D

Glad you like it btw !!

Wow, can't wait to get home and try this out. You must have read all our minds. This is a great direction in which to develop new scope stuff.

I snuck up behind the VM-1242 while it wasn't looking & blagged them. Bit of spraypaint changed the look enough for me, but someone noticed :x

cool stuff.. Is this different from a standard kick with pitch mod and basic envelope? <grin> As in, what special magic have you cast on it?

(1) sounds immaculate
(2) very heavy on resources - special operations required by me and any lowly 6-chip user, to use it, but if you have a multi-card system you should be ok.

version 0.4 is much less heavy on DSP (needs one bar).

okay thats still much for a kick...

you could say to your studio friends
"hey, I got that 1000€ DSP card to calculate a bass kick, a cymbal and a clap! Thats basically all I can do unless I render out of ressources!"
:D  :P
