MUBACO beta 0.4 (4-band multiband-compressor)

Post by MCCY »

LOOK FOR MY LAST POST & YOU'll FIND MUBACO 0.4!
- lookahead
- individual sample delay for each band
- better functionality of band-settings
- mute-buttons
- meters
- new gain settings

MUBA will grow to a very nice semimodular multiband-tool.
I have some really nice plans with it. I know it's up to now the worst looking device on earth, but it works nice as a multiband insert-slot.

Filterdesign seems very good now. Be aware of phaseproblems when adding devices to the slots! You simply can't fill the slots with as many and which devices you want. Use the millidelays for this insert thing... ! Inserts are supposed to fill each with the same device (which has to be quite low on DSP for not exceeding limit of one DSP. So forget vinco...

beta 0.2

Post by MCCY »

So here comes a more funtional Multibandcompressor/saturator-version. Sounds very nice to my ears. Still very early beta...
This is not what I mean with semi-modular. That is an other plan which will take lots more time and maybe isn't really worth realizing it ... I will explain it later.

I will improve compressor - sound further, but it sounds great as is by now.

just some thoughts:

I think, it also would be useful to be able to switch the drive insert between pre/post the compressors for different results? maybe...?
I`m not sure but I think it would make a difference

drive -> compressor
compressor -> drive

the insert slots could be pre/post switchable, too.

okay checked it and I think the sound is too weak, especially if you compare it with Vinco.

But I got wonderful results when loading 4 vincos into the insert slots... :) I don`t care about the phase issues.

All Vincos at extreme setting ( max input and peak mode)

Hm. Maybe you don't hear phase problems with that drumloop or that configuration but it's dangerous on a whole mix... You will hear it when phase problems occure ... and you won't like it ...

Sound will be more smooth, when I added lookahead.

Compared to Optimaster it sounds very good although it is not finished by far.

Tip for working with single inserts:
1. load the desired device into insert
2. set all delays to max 4.2 ms
3. now lower delay of used band-insert approx. 0.2 ms (depends on the device).
4. This will not work with inserted plugs with more than 4.2 ms delay (compressors with lookahead or something like that)

Now Version 0.4:
- mute buttons,
- we all don't need this doubled freq-parameters & the multiplier value-range is smaller just like +-0,3 around 1
- gain-meters will follow for each band
-another gain-stage

coming soon:
- solo buttons
