No midi driver?? What's up?

Post by areptiledysfunction »

I cannot seem to achieve consistent communication with the Pulsar midi drivers:

I am trying to control my two MAudio Digipatch units using the Pulsar midi I/O. This has never been a problem with any other audio card I have ever owned. The routing is as follows:

Pulsar 2 midi out > Digipatch #1 unit midi in
Digipatch#1 unit midi out > Digipatch #2 unit midi in
Digipatch #2 unit midi out > Pulsar 2 midi in

I have selected 3 x midi drivers in the I/O enabler (I have a 2nd Pulsar II card with 2 x midi I/O)

Sometimes when I open my digipatch control panel I get a message that there is no midi driver available but all three Creamware midi drivers show up as available.

I have sequencer midi source 1 and midi destination 1 in the routing window and alos hve the Pulsar midi in and midi out modules in the routing window. I've tried every routing permutation I can imagine to try to get this to work.

I'm out of ideas here but it's probably something simple...............I hope.

do you have a single card ?
If not, did you connect the right card to midi ?

sorry, sometimes such things happen.
Hi,

Yes, there is midi input at this card. I have more testing to do here. I have two cards. Midi input is active on all of them. I'm wondering about midi output at this point. Without both, the unit won't work.

This has been a very frustrating situation. What is supposed to be present in the routing window for communication to occur?

Finally figured it out. in order for it to work it must be configured as follows:

Sequencer 1 source out>Pulsar midi in A
Pulsar midi out A>Sequencer 1 source in.

................makes sense once you understand that the "sequencer " I/O is like sort of an overriding global necessity for this to happen.

It's just going to take some time. The routing window is a bit of a new paradign for me. I'll get my head around it eventually. I've been so preoccupied with so many different things because I've been completely recabling the studio during this process and adding other new gear which also has a learning curve so I haven't yet had the time to focus in on the routing details as much as I need to yet. I'm just throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks at the moment.

Getting the midi sussed was a big deal though. That needs to happen for sure.
