Hi all,

Problem : Many USB MIDI controllers cannot be "plugged" directly into the software creamware midi inputs.

Heavy workaraound : What I used to do was to start mi sequencer software (which recognizes the USB controller), then assign the "sequencer MDII source" to the midi input of my scope devices.

Result : The whole setup is quite heavy since one must setup tracks and so and so..

Inspiration : Last night, I remembered about a tiny piece of software that use to come with ReBirth and that could do the trick : Hubi's MIDI LoopBack device.

http://members.magnet.at/hubwin/midi.html

It installs as a device in windows, and when started it allows to route any connected midi device's input to any connected midi device's output.
SCOPE sees it as a sequencer MIDI source.

so the trick is:

1) install HLD.
2) route the USB controller's output to one of the SCOPE MIDI Inputs
3) in SCOPE's routing window connect the sequencer MIDI source to the MIDI input of the device

Have fun!

I found MIDI yoke to be unstable, and am now investigating MIDIox for use with my Korg padKontrol.

Can any developers handle creating a simple module for SFP that helps map the MIDI routing pre-SFP?

how could they ?
Scope SDK deals only with stuff WITHIN SFP and CPU based programming would need an interface to the low level midi drivers in SFP (to get pre-SFP).
The latter doesn't exist and wouldn't work either, as the 2 interfaces would inevitably collide - there's no way for them to know what the other is doing currently.

cheers, Tom

I find that when I'm not using Sonar, MidiOx is a great little tool. I use it to manipulate the STM mixers, synths and FX when I'm just tooling around and not ready to commit a track & want to dig in without setting up a whole bunch of tracks.
