Who wants to help me bust John Bowens balls into making a Solaris Modular kit. A nice idea it is to go semi modular, 4 the best VA synth known to mankind.

Yes it does look excellent. I don't think you need to 'bust his balls for it though'

The Solaris Modular Kit!

I like the idea of having seperate modules for the different sections (OSC,ENV,LFO etc.) will make it more flexible/powerful/efficient. I'm really looking forward to this one.

Hey guys!

It's almost done...in fact, I was hoping to have something to release before I went on vacation here, but it's not quite completely debugged yet.
At the moment, there's just the 4 'building blocks' - oscs, filters/mixers, LFOs, and Envelopes. The Rotor and Vector stuff can already be done with some of the Modular III modules, but maybe people want the Solaris presentation of these? Let me know....

cheers,
john b.

JB,
I hope you know I'm just being my usual asshole self with my comments, but I am feverish. The little taste of Pro Wave was nice, thanks again 4 being the model of how synth designers should be. Have a nice vacation, and don't miss George Duke /Stanley Clarke. It made me feel like a little boy at his first concert, totally in awe.

John, it would be nice to see a full matching set. There's possibly variations that can be made to modules being re-hashed to make them unique in certain ways. I haven't seen a quad (or more) lfo or envelope module so far & there aren't a set of filters with true stereo signal paths either. Erm, there's lots missing in terms of possibilities actually

John is very busy, but I am hoping to learn more on this also. I'm hoping to eventually get good enough to use SpaceF, Adern Flexor I & II, and JB's RD II Modules in this beast all @ once. I currently am using ProWave, and ProWave Modular, and Solaris w/ Solaris Modular. But my lack of knowledge causes me to crash the modulars when I add other modules in the Mod III window. But ProWave and Solaris using the RD II Modules is so awesome already. I have turned these synths into PPG 2.3's, D50's, and Prophet VS's w/ all of the extra Oscillators than John has provided. These are incredible synths. I have dedicated each of them their own DAW. Nobody in the world makes synths like this man.
Do you have any of his stuff? I would love to hear someone elses patches other than my own, as not many presets had the RD II modules inserted.

I also have Mod 3 with Flexor, the RD modules, Space F Osc & Filters and John's Solaris. I haven't got the Pro-Wave as I have so much stuff already and now Flexor 2 is coming out. All this lot has such crazy enormous power but it's nice to have a new synth with a different gui even though I can create a googleplex number of presets with what I hae got already (Imagine the scope system in 10 years aaaarrrgghh!!!).

I will get round to doing some preset banks for this lot and sharing them with everyone - I think the first will be some using the new Flexor 2 modules. It would be nice if I knew someone using them in their own stuff. I'll try some ambient type stuff first - it's the sort of thing comes to mind living where I am (one of the most sparsely populated areas in Europe!)

Hi, All - What has happened to this is that (1) there were only 3 requests for the modules, and (2) the modules are odd-sized, and I don't really want to resize them to fit within the normal Modular Window grid. As some will recall, there was discussion of a different grid size (which I posted for use), and this is what you need to work with the Solaris Modules. So far I've sent Jimmy a beta version of 4 modules, so this is why he mentions working with them.

As it is now, I'm really quite busy with the new project, and so, if you already own the Solaris plugin, I can send anyone the beta set of Modules, if your are interested.

I may get back to developing these more in the future, but there's not been enough interest, really, to justify spending a lot of time.

cheers,
John b.

Hi John,

I thought you said there was a technical problem with the new modular window. Was it a preset handling issue or something?

If the mod shell you made with different grid snap works ok, I'll make some modules for it ;¬)

Yeah, actually, you are correct. I had forgot about that - I just checked my 25x15 grid ModularWindow again, and the preset list still is not storing things as it should. I've marked everything the same in the ModuleParameter List and Tree, but if you look at the Modular III device's PresetParameterList, you will see there's nothing marked in there to store, so I don't know what thing is storing all the 'child' parameters of the ModularWindow.

Thanks John, and Shroomz. I will always be interested in anything Bowenesque, anything. I just think that having these in Modular is the ultimate in custom synthesis.

Shroomz, you have done many great things for all of us here lately. I thank you all your work.

I anxiously await Flexor II, and strav100's presets.
