When the preset window for synths, and FX is loaded, the left has banks, and a MIDI controller bank #. In the right list I'm seeing a MIDI controller bank also, but no synth presets, just MIDI. It sounds like a stupid question, but I prefer in Solaris to have my ModWh controlling resonance along w/ envelope modulation attached to it on some patches. My question is, if the right preset list is for MIDI CC presets, do the numbers corresponde from left to right? Can I have a synth patch with it's own MIDI CC preset over in the right preset list? For example,

----- Solaris 4.1 presets ---------------
Left Bank 0 A.Jimmy V. / Right Bank 0 MIDI

Left Pre. #1 OBX Saw / RightPre. #1 OBX MIDI

Will # 1 on left load # 1 on the right?

This would help me drastically for the gig I'll be doing this summer. My KS-88 is loaded with controls, but when I want vibrato based control on my ModWh, I definately don't want the resonance or filter,etc.. attached to it, just on certain patches.

Hi Jimmy,

No, these are just 2 separate preset lists - they are not connected or related in any way.
The "Midi Cotroler" (sic) preset bank in each list is for storing MIDI CCs associated with the front panel knobs (done by right-clicking over the knob and assigning). You can have the presets here control the CC assignments, but they need to be called separately from the synth presets. I thihk it should be possible to do this by giving the MIDI Controler bank a valid MIDI bank number (instead of the -1) and address them accordingly.

The way I normally end up using the right-hand preset list is to load extra or new (or beta tester's) presets there, then drag them over into the left-side preset list, which is the main list normally.

Someother things about the presets lists you may not know - if you double-click on the text 'info' in the lower left of the preset list, you will get some more information about the preset bank and presets themselves. (You might want to 'stretch' the preset down a bit more to see everything.) Sometimes I would completely fill this stuff out, but after a while, I stopped. Some fields can be edited (like Author or description) by slowly clicking twice on the line.

BTW, hope you had a Happy Birthday - mine's on the 10th!

cheers,
john b.

Thank You 4 Your Reply,
It was wishfull thinking. I'll figure out a way to do the MIDI translations required externally on my KS-88, or use one of the great little devices that the SDKit guys have built. I'll be doing alot of live routing, and constantly need to change things on this controller. I have to free myself from the screen, that's why I'm always feverish for a new trick or two. It must have took a long time to program Scope on DSP's. This app. is endless, a tweakers paradise. This sure is a long way from walking over to your stack and chaging presets on your Lexicon Prime Time. I am determined to have each preset on Solaris to load it's own controller preset through MIDI. I will post my findings soon. Not many live players using Scope that I know of. Most that I've seen on the forum seem to quit posting after a few attempts to get Scope running right. Thanks to you guys I have had a stable dual application running live 4 nine months. Not one crash. Since Jan. I have been using my controller to do everything. It basically has the STM1632 laid out w/ 3 FX in the AUX channels, all totally automated, Solaris 4.1, B2003 w/ Leslie and all drawbars tied to reversed faders. This is so much fun playing engineer while I play. I even use my expression pedal to kick all of part of the mix into a thick, slow sweeping SSB Phasor effect for turn arounds and such. Life is great!!

P.S. I was sucsessful in renaming the MIDI presets with an A then the name. When indexed, it loads up the MIDI CC's, and the custom Solaris bank at start up. A fellow Pulsarians' trick I read.

Congratulations to your birthday Jimmy.
It´s nice to read about your successes on Scope. Makes me want to use it more and more for live sessions and gets my a** back to the modular.
Thanks for the good vibes.

Ankyuverymuch,
Old Scope Cards Never Die, They Just Fade Away. I took my rig on vacation with me. My fiancee has grown accustomed to it. She says I'm handicapped by immaturity. But to look out over Lahe Tahoe when you wake up inspires me to play. This is the most beautiful place. I'm at a house in North Shore by all the casino owners, and junk bond salesmen. I'm sure you like the alpines too, eh? It is similar to Lucerne. I guess just to leave Las Vegas is exciting. If it wasn't for the music, I'd be back in Tahoe.

Thanks Again Mates,

Ankyuverymuch Gentlemen,
aTom. How exactly do I find cset.ini? I consider this a nice birthday tip. I did a search for [presetinfo], and cset.ini, but to no avail. Keep in mind that I did my 1st attachment of a file in an email last week to J.Bowen w/ a picture of my Oberheims in my Project studio, hope it worked. So I am very green with computer stuff still. But I would like to use this to send some preset lists to the forum, or pictures of my fiancees little dancer friends, for they are all quite fine. Between them and her daughters friends, I am constantly surrounded by fine trim, and beautiful old analog synths and hardware.
I really want to learn your trick of saving w/ my name. Thank You.

Hoi scope4live,

You can find cset.ini in ../Scope folder/App/Bin/cset.ini

One of my favorite tweaks there is to change paths from c: to somewhere on another drive, where I prefer to keep the devices, modular patches and preset lists. For example, preset lists will not be overwritten when Scope is reinstalled and they are not in the default folder. Once I lost all my presets that way - never again eh.

Keep enjoying yer scope as you do,

atOm,
These are valuable tips that I appreciate. I have been using a wireless USB micro HDD the size of a cigarette case. It is only a 60 GB, but I put the little pigtail whever I want,i.e. internet computer, or either of my DAW's. It comes in handy when copying files from Scope DAW #1, to Scope DAW #2. I will try your tip right now.I was unsucsessful for I am not sure how to use the tip you gave me 4 cset.ini. I found the file manually, but should I install the information, or try to manipulate some of the text? Again I am at your mercy, for I am just learning computers and tricks for 9 months.
Strength And Honor,

You have to manipulate the text. To be sure make a copy of it as a backup, then open it with the notepad and add the line of text as suggested. Save it and voilà...

This platform is so customizable!! I somehow feel important seeing my name in the lights. More so than when I gig in a casino. They put your name in the marquis,...right under the 6.99 Steak & Lobster ad. I often want to name the band " Free Beer " just to jack-off the entertainment director. I only had to do 5 months of showroom gigs to get a good house gig here. So now I can really show them the sound of Solaris/Scope. With 24 rotary knobs, 9 faders, 22 buttons, and 4 pedals, I can do some serious waveform manipulations. Wish you all sucsess in your endeavors with music/recording careers, and don't forget, May 10th in announcements, I am donating more money to the forum on John Bowens Birthday, a meagher 20 USD. But please chime in on our virtual birthday party for this living legend of synthesizers,................................Ladies and Gentlemen...Man or Myth..........
Mr. John Bowen...ankyu,...ankyu.
