I've recently discovered Scope and am very interested in the whole thing. I'm a home musician with a big interest on synthsesism, and am looking for something to take the load of my CPU. The Scope Project looks like a good candidate for that and the Modular III looks sweet as well. But I haven't found any information on what exactly 6 DSP chips can do...
I would mainly be using Scope for synthesism, and I'd like to know rougly how many voices I could expect from it. Can you give me a rough estimate on how many voices of Minimax I could generate, or how many modules I could be using in Modular before I run out of DSP power?
Also, is it possible to run the synths and effects as vst plugins? Could I load up Modular as a VST instrument inside Cubase and have all the processing be done on the Scope DSPs?
Edit: Oh, and do you know where I can find sound clips of all the synths that are available for the Scope platform??

Thinking about getting a Scope Project
Yes, you can run the cards in "XTC-mode" which will have it acting similar to a PowerCore or UAD-1 i.e.Also, is it possible to run the synths and effects as vst plugins? Could I load up Modular as a VST instrument inside Cubase and have all the processing be done on the Scope DSPs?
However it will take some tweaking from the users side; everything described on the fabulous forum your on right now.
You can load modular _patches_ the same way (as vst synths in your host), but you will not be able to edit them. Modular editing only works in the regular "SFP-mode", where the cards act like a virtual studio setup, and not as an integral part of your ASIO-host.

If you intend to use the board for synthsizer, scope project is the right device for you. Just choose the synth & sampler pack version and you will get many DSP-hardware emulated synth. Just haave a look at:
http://scope.creamware.de/scope_project.htm
and go to software library to see the list you'll get.
Or you can get through this forum to get informations:

Polyphony capability depend on the scope synth plug-in which is related to DSP usage (the link above give you DSP usage for the former PULSAR card which has 4 DSP. The scope project board has 6 of them.
DSP usage calculation explanation is given there:

Last but not least, it would be possible for you to had and chain 2 more scope boards afterwards in case you lack DSP ressources.
Both XTC and SCOPE mode could be usefull for you. Just do not hesitate more.

A word of advice. You will regret buying that in 6 months time. Trust me, it is the right platform. But if you are getting into synthesis, you will want, not need, more. I was using 2 boxes. 1 w/ 2 x Pro's 4 studio work, and 1, 4 live gigs w/ 3 x Projects. I have switched my live rig to 1 x 6 DSP, + 2 x 15 DSP from studio rig. Unless you are playing live you won't need what I use, but you should get the Pro just to be safe. Check out Pro Music Exchange in SoCal, city of Orange. Modular will eat that Project card rather fast, but CWA will welcome any purchase.
