I'm quite new to midi music, always been more of a tracker / FL studio type of dude. I recently bought a Minimax ASB and am trying to work my way up to mastering my new setup including a Korg poly61 and a Roland TR-707.
I have the 707 triggering both Ableton and the Poly61 and Ableton is receiving data from my Roland PC-180a midikeyboard and triggering the Minimax. So far so good.
I've been able to get all this going, except for when I want to use the Minimax's multitimbrality. There it goes wrong. Obviously it must be due to my inexperience with these things, but I've been RTFM'ing and UTFS'ing like mad, but I can't find any solutions.
The idea is to have different midi channels triggering different sounds in the ASB (bass, lead, some ambient pads). I do this by creating a midi track in Ableton, giving it a unique midi channel and then I should be able to assign one sound to one channel on the ASB, right? Unfortunately I can't figure out how to do this. It's not in the manual either.
I thought I would first select a sound, then assign a midichannel to it, do this for all (in this case 3) sounds and then switch the midi channel to omni, so I could hear all 3 sounds at once as they are triggered independently from Ableton.
[edit]
I should probably also mention that I have tried to change the bank / sub-bank / program selectors per midi-track in Ableton, to correspond with the sounds I want, but this is quite confusing since I have no clue (and this is nowhere to be found in the ASB's documentation) which bank / sub-bank / program corresponds to what exactly, or how to configure this. You can muck about with it a bit and get some (confusing) results, with the right sound for that channel, but then, when playing all tracks (with different sounds, as configured in Ableton, supposedly) the same happens, namely: [/edit]
But alas, I hear only the last selected sound playing three different parts, not three different sounds playing three different parts.

What is this n00b doing wrong?
Thanks for your patience and your help
