I recently figured out a way to load up large projects w/o seeing the DSP limit window. I use 6 voice chords quite frequently with my right hand. So my left hand plays an analog SE-1x, while my right uses XPander, w/ Solaris layers, and yes it is very fat. The other synths are Saturn ( for the 24db Oberheim filter ) and B2003, with 8 stereo channels of Giga being treated w/ great DSP FX. I have 8 voice polyphony on both synths, and a total of 18 DSP FX!!
The trick I stumbled upon is when I save the project at the end of the night, I take polyphony of synths down to 1 on each. When I reload the project, I raise the voices on Saturn to 8, and Solaris to 10, which I don't really need. I back them down to Saturn 6, and Solaris 8, and voila! My DSP meter reads at 70 -75%, where as before I always saw those annoying windows and the meter also was very high, i.e.in the 90's.
Well not many of us play live, but I said that I would try to return some tips for all the good info I had recieved from you guys. I feel that this is a quirk that I stumbled upon. Cause there is nothing worse than fishing through a great synth like Solaris, which takes time to load on its own, and then see that God damn window about globilization of DSPs. Now I load up presets w/o incident at 8 voice poly. I use 3 x 6 DSP's for my live rig. Betcha I steal one of the 15 DSP cards in my studio rig before summer.

I try to push the DSP meter up as high as I can, before bringing it down to acceptable levels. On my studio box that I used live before GaryB built this box for me. I use to run CPU, and DSP at 50-60%, thinking that this kept it more stable. I'm not sure of that philosophy now. I run my live box at 70-80%, and CPU ( 3.4GHz EE Northwood ) at 75-90%, and it works flawlessly. The Blue Tubes VST FX that I use with GS3 Orchestra gives my samples a sonic leap, but uses a good chunk of CPU cycles. But my live rig sounds amazing, I have complete control of everything. Spare HDDs for my hot swap-able RAID cage, and eneough spare parts to do surgery at a gig. Other musicians come and sit in on our last set now, and usually just play the B2003, and Upright Piano, Rhodes, and Wurlitzer samples. The analog synths layered w/ Solaris aren't suitable for R & B sit-ins. But I listen to my rig out front going through the stereo Barbettas, and the Motion Sound Pro 3T, and it sounds so studio-ish it's ridiculous. I mean that it's a jump up from your basic Nords,Tritons, and Motifs.
