winXP/scope4.0 issue.
apparently scope software doesn't support winXP "automatic shutdown" or "hibernation".
does anyone know of a tric to change this, and allow automatic shutdown etc. when scope is active ?
thanx

When a project's been out of tray (shown on desktop), Scope will ask if you want to save the project when it's closed. So a normal unattended shutdown will pause there untill you've answered the question. You can set up XP to force-shutdown using "shutdown". I find it's safe to force-close Scope - considering all changes to the project and patches will be lost.
Run cmd.exe, and type in "shutdown -h" for more on shutting down using a command. It can be pasted in a shutdown.bat file, or ran from the command line. Or Task Scheduler can plan the command for you.
Hibernation is possible on a machine with Scope cards, but not with Scope running. If the machine wakes up, it does not re-load the DSPs, Scope must be restarted.
I removed all preset XP Power Schemes (see Control Panel>Power Options Properties), and made a couple custom ones. Disabling all power savings while procuding music is a must.
You have to manually 'wake up' spun down drives to avoid Scope (and whole PC?) crashing when you load a device and Scope times out on reading the file, due to the disk being in sleep mode. Opening a text file or so will spin up/wake up the drive after it went to sleep mode.
Hope this helps.
