I finally got around to experimenting with this great dev. It reminds me of the Aural Exciter we used back in 1981 when it first came out. It was expensive but added sheen to a live mix very well, and beefed up the bottom.
These type of FX are meant to be used on final mixes and such, but I have been tweaking EQs for weeks, due to GS3 through Scope. The B2003 and Synths sound fine w/o EQ, but the acoustic emulations from GS3 just sounded soft or loud. Even my Celmo Pultec couldn'tmake me happy, but that dev. has better suitable applications in a mix for me anyway. Then I found PsyQ. Anyone running a sampler through STMs should apply this little beauty to the channels not the Master effect slot, just GSIF specific channels. It shocked me. Especially strings, and well of course wood resonating instruments. Now my GS3 isn't so overwhelmed by the fat ass synths in Scope.

it's a great tool, but...
1. don't apply to much of it, it works fatigueing
2. if you put it on premix situations (mixerchannels), you can't (should) not use it on the mix sum, therefor you exclude everything else from this beauty...

for what's worth:

Psy Q on a whole mix is quite extreme, unless you're after that sound an/or use it really lightly. I've used it succesfully on my voice, it boosted the highs in a way that pleased me and was appropriate for the mic and song context. Often I put psyQ on a track and end up removing it, because I'm not convinced it sounds better with it... But when it works, its really a useful tool!
