how do all of you set up your templates in the routing window, i find with an ultra and all the usual routing, i wish i can name the modules, eg. "from ext comp", do ya all just use whats there or do you name the inputs and outputs of a module? (if there is a way)

Check in Tools, there is Source M/S and Destination M/S. You can assign just about any input/output to them (zLink ADAT ASIO SPDIF Analog etc etc), rename them and save them. Then you can have all your outboard gear (or software) behave just like any other SFP module.

There is also EffectsOthersExternal Effects that will do the same thing for effects.

seems you can't name all the modules in/outs

that would be handy for different routing templates

I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to do. You can load modules, rename the module, and assign I/Os to them. You can only assign ASIO/ZLink/ADAT/SPDIF/Analog I/Os, but I don't see how you could want to rename anything else.

Worst case you can label the inputs on the mixer.

Are you sure you saved the External * devices? Their settings are not remembered in the project...
