I've had a Pulsar II for a year or so now - all fine. I recently added a second Pulsar II (second-hand) to the same system - works fine (thanks to suggestions from here to only use one STDM cable).

I'm waiting for Creamware to do the full license transfer, but in the meantime I've got the keys for the second Pulsar II (plus the basic software) from the seller. So how do I actually use these keys to "enable" the software on the second Pulsar II? I can't actually find anywhere where you can enter the new information.

any plugin that you try to use that doesn't have a key for the first card will pop up a box asking for a key. in that case, enter it by hand. otherwise, it isn't an issue. you only need to enter a key once. the second card uses the first card's keys since they are connected together.

if you put both cards in different computers, you can enter the keys by hand during installation for the new card.

Thanks - what about things like the basic software/basic mixer package? Do I not need to worry about these (ie. they'll work on any board)?

if they're both in the same computer, the first card's keys are all you need. if you need a key for a device, a dialog box will open and you can enter it by hand.

Brilliant (and phew!). All works fine - worked as you'd said with the Effects II and Mixer I packages, so I'm up and running now and don't need to wait for the transfer to complete.

Thanks again.

What's this about only using one STDM cable with 2 Pulsar II's ??

We were gonna buy a second Pulsar II specifically for it's dual STDM buss capabilities compared to our 6+3+3 system.

Can anyone explain this?

When I used 2 STDM cables with 2 Pulsar 2's, the DSP usage went through the roof even with nothing loaded. Skipping back to a single STDM cable resolved this (and didn't cause any problems).

I blame the manual...

What the fcuk ?

I'm struggling to get my head round this. If this can't be solved another way to enable the possible double STDM connection count, we WILL NOT be buying a second Pulsar II. There must be another way. This is about as crazy as crazy gets. Very sad now

you won't likely see much difference in performance either way, 1 or 2 cables. some users report no problems with multiple stdm cables. it just depends, i guess...i would expect the bigger card to help just because more dsps are on the same card and devices are less likely to be split across the stdm bus.

My co-worker was building an Octave Cat patch in ModIII last night & ran out of STDM connections. It's the second time in a couple of days that this happened (just installed synth & sampler pack a few days back). My instant thoughts & comments to him were that this would not occur as often with 2 Pulsar IIs using two STDM busses.

Looks like a re-think & some clarificcation on that front might be in order. I'll post a couple of new threads on this topic & hopefully we can colate everyones' experiences with this matter.
