Do I remember correctly that Creamware are developing Linux drivers.
If so would like to create partition for Linux.

Do progs like Cubase run on Linux also?

Thanks

I don't think that Linux drivers are very near...

No, Cubase doesn't run on Linux. There are some Linux programs for audio, but most of them seem still in beta..

Some would argue that Cubase never left beta...

To be brutally honest with you, IMHO software is *always* beta. This has to be the case with people always demanding new features.

There is no such thing as bug-free - maybe only if you refuse to ever add any features and spend every minute of development time getting it 100%, but even then somthing always comes up

IMHO the reason for all this is that it is next to impossible to get decent quality beta testers - most people usually see a beta as a free bit of software and won't test it diligently - beta testing is massively hard, often boring, work and is not always the best use of creative time .

To have an efficient beta testing system, you need a pretty huge pool of testers. Only pretty big companies can afford to do this. The biggest private testing programmes for audio software I've seen are for things like Reason. Some others get around the problem by having a public beta system (Ableton for example).

Mozilla amongst many other things also have an excellent & ongoing beta system, with an online debugging community for developers & users.

I like their style. I think they're getting it pretty close to rock solid if you've got it set up right.

Something like Linux must be a growing real time beta & always will be if it can remain open.
