These plans have been up for a while. Now there's a newly established petition available for signing. Take a few moments, check it out and sign up! Then, pass it on. Let's flood it and make sure things get done right.
Sorry, the Freedom Tower is completely wrong!
Okay, I'm not sorry.

WTC II
A good point. It is supposedly designed differently and not be as vulnerable to the circumstances which led to the demise of it's predecessor(s).
Not that safety was an issue for the original until extremists took it on themselves to target it. Anything, anyone, anywhere has vulnerabilities which can be exploited to make it a potential catastrophe if it were to be targeted in a like manner.
Which I guess is part of the point - shall we succumb to a life of abject fear due to the possibility that such threats will be realized? There are possibilities at every turn, no matter what we choose to do - we only have yet to be confronted by them. If someone has the intent, knowhow, and ill will to carry it out, they will find a way.
Besides, in spite of what has happened already, I haven't heard of a mass exodus from similar structures in the US or around the world...granted the probability that US targets carry a higher risk, since we're all evil human beings and deserve it....

Come off it. The US is the world's most powerful nation that bullies other nations into line. It props up squalid regimes around the world to maintain its own interests. That annoys people. These structures are symbols of that. In the Far East, the skyscrapers are not symbols of dominating the world. Look at what America has done to Iraq: lies anout WMD, then death and destruction that Saddam would have been proud to do to Kurds, then more lies and a big fat grin on its face because the oil reserves have been secured.
On a world scale, the bosses of Malayasia and China etc are no different from their American couterparts. I have travelled extensively in the Far East and the gap between rich and poor is staggering. I can assure you that Indonesian, Malayasian and Filipino workers are every bit as 'annoyed' by the society they live in and its symbols of wealth and power.
So there

The post was meant to inform those with a voice (Registered voters in the US? - which I gather doesn't include you) where they could put in their 2 cents. That's all.
If you want to drag us down this path yet again, swell. I mean, who isn't itching to revisit in minute detail all sides of this pointless debate yet again, with the added benefit of our supreme hindsight???
Got a complaint? Offer a solution!
