I've been searching the forum for this topic and saw that some creamware products were recommended. (luna with adat, pulsar, another pulsar etc)
Is it also possible to expand my project card with a non creamware card so that I can use the Adat channels from that soundcard within sfp?
If yes, any suggestions? I need 16 channels.
Another ADAT Alternative
Do you need converters or more ADAT optical ports? If you need converters then yes any outboard ADAT converter will work (RME, Alesis, Behringer etc) but if you need to 'expand' the number of ADAT ports in your system you will need to add another Creamware card. Scope home with the 'I/O Expansion' would work fine.
If you have problems with your stdm contacts I suggest using a proper cleaner on both the contacts and the ribbon cable's connectors. Caig DeOxit Gold is what I would use here in the US (its specifically for gold contacts). 99% alchohol should work as well although the DeOxit GOld gets my vote. 75% alchohol shouldn't be used, nor shout budget 'tuner cleaner' as its usually very corrosive, same with other cleaners not known to be safe. There might be an alternative to Caig for Eu that someone can suggest?
well, you have to understand that once you had this problem (and it's verified that corrosion is the source, not software or a mechanical issue) then there is no cure how often you may clean it.
You only treat the symptoms, but not the source - and the more you treat, the faster it will return.
Possibly the stuff Valis suggests is capable of some chemical addition to the corroded part of the contact's surface, ideally gold.
In that case it would be highly recommended and in fact be the only reasonable treatment.
As a quick solution you might turn the STDM cable around so the plugs attach to oppsite sides than before, thus hitting possibly clean spots on the surface.
On the other hand I'm not sure which one is more sensitive: the card's contacts or the cable's connectors.
cheers, Tom

Try Stabilant 22. Here's the U.S distributor:
http://www.posthorn.com/Stab_2.html and they have a link to the manufacturer.
It was originally developed for the Polaris Missile program, and at one time was re-packaged and sold to audiophiles as, "Tweek." It really does seem to work.
