Hello,

is there a device that could convert Audio to Midi?
I have a poor recorded kick drum and I want to replace the sound with a sampled one. So I need to trigger the audio signal . Is it possible?

thanks , regards

One way I know of is using Modular synth with Flexor modules. Works great!

there is this device by wavelength, the 'drum rep', which does exactly what you want... but i can't seem to find a link...

the melodyne demo does wonderful things, but probably isn't what you're looking for...

Audio to MIDI is sloppy, for a kick would be it's death.

Instead Flexor has superfast Audio to gate and Envelope Follower, you can build quite good stuff with them, making your kick trigger a drum oscillator or a sampledrum oscillator (from modular2)with the audio to gate and envelope follower determine the volume and/or a filter parameter....

If your kick is alone on a track or easily separable (hehe sembra italiano), you can have very nice results.

scusate l'ignoranza ma non sono molto esperto con i synth . Cos'è sto Flexor ?
E come funziona?
Ciò che vorrei ottenere è una partitura Midi da un segnale audio di grancassa. Non mi interessa la dinamica . Se pò fa?

Not directly. But there is a MIDI gate module in modular3, that outputs midi data..I must check if I can come with a patch for it....

Flexor is the most powerful set of modules for the Modular, with superb sound and very nice functions.
