"group buy" for creamware product: why not?
i am a visitor also of other forums, in which samples producers post they news.
for example:
http://tinyurl.com/3lx42
now there is a great interest for samples developers in "group buy". what is?
for example, this is the rules for the group buy of East West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra Gold Edition, a product normally sold at 1.000$
**********
Rules:
* to join the Group Buy it is necessary to pay an entry fee of $398.00 USD which is the minimum amount the product will cost you;
* If 81 buyers or more are reached, you will need no additional payment;
* The final payment will be the difference between the entry fee and the final price. The final price is shown on the table below and depends on the amount of buyers that will take part in the Group Buy;
* Both the entry fee and the final payment constitute a purchase. We will not issue any refund.
Discounts -
1-10 $796 20%
11-20 $696 30%
21-40 $597 40%
41-80 $497 50%
81-100 $398 60%
******
so, in this period of time, the more people buy the software, the less they pay. now the counting is near 700.
i thought that this approach could be a great opportunity for creamware: they could arrange a group buy for their software and make a lot of cash. in this way, more and more people become interested in buying, and there is a strong psycological effect of getting a normally expansive software at a cheap price.
what do you think?

I don't particularly like these ideas. The problem is that if these sorts of "specials" happen reasonably often then no one buys anything *unless* it's part of a group buy deal.
That can result in a distortion of marketing plans and sales for the company, and anxiety for customers. Customers may either hold out for the next good deal (and feel impatient & frustrated at the wait), or feel they've been "ripped off" if they buy at the "normal" price outside of a group deal.

when the price is about as low as the manufacturer can make it and still remain in business, when it's cheap compared to the alternative(pro tools hd, hardware) it's cheaply priced. period.
it's not that i hate the group buy idea though...

if you register for SFP4 they send you a code by email.
You have to 'activate' that code online on CWA's server.
Immediately after confirmation the shop is switched to a 50% mode and you can buy one plugin of choice for half the regular price.
Certain plugins are excluded from this offer, though.
The 'bug' is that you can repeat the activation over and over again - obviously not unwelcomed by CWA
cheers, Tom

Well,
I've used the 4.0 register discount ordeal on 3 things. Imagine, getting protone for 49 euro! Its amazing too! I could't deny getting MOD 3 for 49 euro also. In the past I'd never bought any of the extras for CW, alaways using the stock synths and stuff. After experiencing these new products, I'm MUCH MUCH more inclined to purchase more of these wonderful plugs!
Also, a guy earlier mentiond that his Pular 2 is weak. I had a pulsar 2 -classic, but upgraded by adding a pulsar 2 -zlink. now i've got 12 dsp. What i've noticed, though, is that your 12 DSP is actually more than 200% of 6 DSP. It's actually noticeable more powerful than having 6 dsp twice. I used to not run much polyphony, 3 at max. Now I can run some synths into 14 or 15 voices just to check out the DSP load.
