User wavetables?

It appears that the vectron is the only synth in the creamware range that allows user wavetable to be loaded. But my understanding of the vectrons implementation is that it is not the same as say the waldorf wavetable scanning? Am I way off here? Is there someway of implementing this type of wavetable synthesis?

No, Vectron is based on the Prophet VS which didn't allow you to do wavescanning. In fact I know of no synth, CPU or Scope, that allows you to do wavescanning with user tables. Anyone?

Waldorf was one of the very early 3rd parties with an original wavetable oscillator - the tables themselves aren't supposed to be user editable, though.
If you're adventurous you may hack them as they are found in the DSP folder under wt01-wt64.dsp... Waldorf probably won't complain

I just discovered ChronoX by LinPlug that allows you to do wavescanning! There aren't that many useful controls in the wavescanning department -- you can only adjust the rate of scanning, from static (Vectron style) to fast motion, but it sounds very clean and musical anyway. I suggest you guys have a look at it. It's the only thing in its class, as far as I know.

The Orion host has an inbuilt generator that does something similar and does allow you do use your own wavetables as long as they conform to certain rules like samplelength etc..

So you have Wavefusion in Orion
LinPlug's CronoX
ConcreteFX Kubik.

I don't know if they use the same method exactly, and I know Kubik uses a more additive resynthesis approach, but they all have a similar effect I imagine and all allow you to create your own wavetables.

Pentagon I and Vaz 2010 also allow user wavetables but I'm not sure if the use of them is the same as the upper 3.

Also you have instruments like XPhraze and Wusikstation which angle alot more towards the Wavestation wave-sequencing method with crossfading between waves. These also support user waves.

So there are VSTi and host-specific options out there that may not be precisely the same but still very effective in their own right.
