I'm sure this has been posted ad nauseam, but it's new to me so...

Windows (win-DOH-z), n. A thirty-two bit extension and graphical shell to a sixteen bit patch to an eight bit operating system originally coded for a four bit microprocessor which was written by a two bit company that can't stand one bit of competition.

Let me ask this question:
Would a fast PC with a an optimized operating system be a threat to the national security of US?

Let's say one would have such a PC. Could one use this PC to perform some simulations or use the PC in such a way that would give one certain advantages?

And last question: are PCs deliberately made slow?

Are people who post viruses and worms threats to the security of a nation? They don't even need really powerful computers.

They could be considered as such. They attack all computers equally.

I'm sure there is some disgruntled evil genius out there who's up to something right now, at least I hope so. Anarchy Now!

Just kidding, I like democracy in all it's crappy forms. Capitalism works for me!

Maybe someone will wipe out all the computers and we will have to learn to play piano and accordion and other acoustic instruments again...I'm not sure that would be a bad thing, at least people have to get to together if they want to make music. Instead of sitting alone in our little rooms with our blinking lights and glaring screens...and beer...and whatever else we can get our hands on, after all it's Friday.

IMHO

No-o-o-oooo please...not again the same old forms and styles...
there's enough to sample from...and create new stuff...keep history what's history!
serious wink
I don't understand this thread in it's content (going from word kidding to national security and ways of music making), but this is the only thing I can add
