I guess you're talking about midi sequencing?...everything that has midi-in can be chained to a midi-out with succes...your card (not XTC) has midi-in, so...

Not to mention that by adding another midi i/o device to the pc and using additional software layers (hubi's or midi-ox, bidule etc) your midi interactions with sfp can become incredibly more interesting. Oh and you can run softsynths side-by side with it when externally sequencing. Etc. etc. ...

ok, i'm using just Cubase, so i'm not familiar with other sequencers, but i just want to run midi on external sequencer, so i can use creamware synths like hardware synths connected to external sequencer and use it in my setup.
i have 2 Luna II, so i have 2 midi in's and 2 midi out's...
em , then can i record normaly knob changes on CW synths to external sequencer like i did in Cubase?
what are the best recomendations for good hardware sequencer, but really just for sequencing, no other functions, just for writing and recording midi ??

any tips ? maybe Roland ? Yamaha ? other...
what money ? and so.....

thanks

Yes i'd use it. but not cubase. i'm using sonar 2.2+ Yamaha QY700. just turn on the Transmit midi point in midi opiton (sonar)will do the job done. QY700 can locate all point of a song playing in sonar and can rec all midi data in QY700.
But i don't like that anymore... it took more time to creat a part.... so i rec the midi data in sonar and use the QY700 as a sound module
cubase must have better option than sonar.
**QY700 has 2midi in 16*2 ch but most sounds are not sooo good. price under $700.
*** Why you need external sequencer... you can buy a class sound module for $700!

what I did for live shows of Ulanbator (elektro band) was: create all midi stuff in Cubase, and when ready, bulk the whole thing to a streight 'midi player'.
This way you don't need a risky computer setup, if stage is involved.
Adventage: working in a soft sequencer is much more apprpriate.
Shit, I don't remember the name of it, was it a Roland...? I'm sure it's cheap to get 2nd hand.
I'll come back to this later

yeah, if you understand midi connections, using scope with an external sequencer works great, but why? a soft sequencer does the same job easier.

well, to use a hardware sequencer for live with midi files generated in you software sequencer might make sense, otherwise, cubase is much more complete and easier.

i think that the roland thing mentioned is the mc series(mc300, mc500, and mc500mk2, all very solid performers. hubird may have also been talking about the roland sound canvas. also the alesis data disk will read standard midi files, so it can work as a very cheap midi player.

yes, i know, i was thinking more about stability, stable midi timing, while comp. sometimes freezes and so, for live preforming i'm sure it's better hardware sequencing,
i'm using cubase 13 years now, i'm still happy with it....

I've been thinking on it...I guess the midi file player (that's how these things are called exactly) I was talking about was called the SoundBrush...was it by Roland indeed Garib?

ATARI

in the 'old' days i also liked to use the Kawai Q-80 sequencer, but i always tended/tent/tend (???) to go back to the atari. even when i just got a pulsar and a mac, i hooked up the atari, as it took a while before i bought a sequencer app for the mac. very stable of course. and a setup used by a lot of the big boys until a few years ago.
i'm not 'getting out' /reading that much anymore on the subject, but nowadays i see a lot of people using either MPC2000 or ableton live (though only audio seq, but midi should be here with version4 coming out in a few weeks, if one can believe the rumours).
i still remember my first gig: emaxII sampler triggered by a roland tr505

well... word is going around that ableton live 4 will be ready for public beta in a few weeks, and it COULD involve VSTi and midi seq support.
you can guess where this rumour leads to: speculations all over the place.
better wait, and don't set your hopes to high is my advice.

yes.
i think the sound brush was the synth and sound canvas was the player....

So ive got a problem with cubase. Ive got a luna2/pulsar1 linked sound unit. Ive JUST started using cubase and cant find the step designer. I can use the key editor for the midi (im trying with sds), but cant find how to call up the step designer. Ive looked all through the help tutorials but they only show that its available, not where its located at. I dont find the key editor to be that useful. Any good word?
