mysterious msg envelope

hi there you & all!
I don't know if you've ever recognized this black bar under the waveform display of the multiseg envelope...It hasn't got any functionality (?) but you can assign a midi CC to it.Can anybody enlighten me? My thoughts on this : maybe CW once had the idea to have a kind of "slider" to shift the display to the right/left side.Then they recognized the display wasn't working the way it should (=the known diplay bug) and left these two msg modules in this uncompleted stage.What do you think?
btw:I love the idea behind the mutiseg.You can create little melodies, bizarre filter modulations as well as 1000 other things.Maybe someday a restless developer puts his hands on this stuff...greetings to all and esp. the crazy Adern people...
