A place to talk about whatever Scope music/gear related stuff you want.

Hello!

I was thinking if it is possible to "take out" the "colour" of Pulsar's ADA Converters by using a convoluter like SIR...
I thought to connect the analogue out to the analogue in of Pulsar, run a sweep sine wave, and create an impulse response which would take out the colour of the ADA converters. The only problem is that I would like to take out only the colour of the AD converters, in order to use the impulse when recording. Do the AD and the DA conversion in Pulsar's "colour" the sound in the same way?
If this idea is possible, then forget about Apogee ADA converters and the such. Just get your analogue sound into your DAW in the cleanest and cheapest way!

Any further ideas?

... and that's probably an Apogee converter
seriously, I don't handle gear of that pricerange, but there's more about a conversion than just one single chip.
A statement like '... the converters of xy color the sound' is just a common simplification.

Every part of the circuitry has it's own influence on the sound and that just cannot be 'convoluted away'
It's an experience reported also with various microphone 'emulators'. You cannot turn a Behringer into a Neumann.

The influence of the pure analog part of sound input, like mic and preamp, defines the sound much more than a (quality) converter of whatever brand.
If one wants that final bliss it gets expensive, obviously

my 2 cents, Tom

Thanks Tom for "landing" me down to Earth! You are obviously right!...

...but it would be REALLY NICE if you could!

BTW, does anybody know if it is possible to exchange my unbalanced I/O card to a "plus" one? Or do you know any e-shop where I could buy one cheap?
