Hello planetZ !!

Im going to take that extra small step up and buy an additional Luna (or a Pulsar SRB if my wallet grows buy it self).
And i will have to get another MOBO for my DAW.
Beacuse i can only fit 2 boards on my existing MOBO right now, because someone decided to put the IDE "ports" in a very dumb place
In fact.. i don't believe iv'e ever seen a smaller MOBO than this one!
It's soo...small!

I would like to know what MOBO i should look for, and also in wich order should i fit the cards. I already have a Pulsar2 and one Powersampler. I mean the Luna and Powersampler only have one S/TDM connection each while P2 have two.

I would say go with an ASUS mobo that has the 800 Mhz Front Side Bus. Of course, you'll need matching memory to boot.

The P4C800-E Deluxe looks nice, supports up to 3.2 Ghz P4's, up to 4 GB of DDR400 Ram, Serial ATA, 8X AGP, and has 5 PCI slots.

Can't go wrong with ASUS.

I'm with garyb on this one. Intel mobos are very stable. Taking his statement about overclocking one step further, I'd say anyone who overclocks a computer with a Creamware card inside should be forced to listen to 10 hours a day of 64k mp3s of William Shatner's singing through a pair of original Yamaha NS10s powered by a pair of $40 (when new) transistorized combo guitar amps from the 1980s In other words, please don't overclock a Creamware card.

why overclocking?

I never said i wanted to overklock anything.
Iv'e never done it before and i would sertainly not do it with even ONE of my CW cards on the MOBO.

I just want a new MOBO.

Am i missing something here ?

all i said was that i liked intel mobos.(865 or 875 chipsets work well...)

I don't think anyone's agitated, I'm against overclocking anyway, so I'd tend to agree.

Overclocking can put additional stress on all ICs and PCI cards, depending on how it's done. Not really necessary with a Pentium 4, nor recommended with $3k worth of soundcards in my box.

Overclocking is more for gamers and performance freaks...

What's wrong with William Shatner?

Intel I believe is the go for stability. I've just ordered an intel D875PBZ. There are others that are just as good i.e. 865/845...ASUS are good also. Avoid dual processors and LAN. Most importantly don't forget to reformat your HDD for the OS, and install things in the correct order. ( See tips and tricks)
P.S. Overclocking is for gamers and could potentially fry your CW cards.

and i really don't know how.....

Anyway. Im using a INTEL chipset right now a 845 chip and so far the only serious problem i have encountered is "USB-CW" incompabillity.
When enabling USB my DAW will shut down, brutally, without warning.

Im shure there are more CW-users out there with the same issue !

Keep posting DAW configurations please.

Regarding the intel D875PBZ MOBO.
Have you noticed any "USB-CW" unstabillity, as described above?

You might have an IRQ conflict when you enable USB...?

i use a usb midi device(akai mp16),2 dongles(logic and cubase)and 2 usb hds,all o.k. with intel d850mvl(with lan)......

Yes of course, but i cannot seem to find any indications of it
For now USB remains disabled.

So many people have tried to aid me in my efforts to solve this "stinking" problem...but it just wont work !

Intel, ASUS & Gigabit all make good MOBOs.

I just got myself an ASUS P4PE-X with a '533' FSB 2.6 GHz P4. I considered the 800 FSB version but a) I believe that you have to be quite specific about the PC3200 RAM that's installed (quite pricey too), b) the CPU's more expensive and c) you don't really gain that much memory speed...the '533' uses PC2700 RAM which runs at 333MHz and the '800' uses PC3200 which runs at 400MHz FSB.

I don't overclock, myself but that's just my personal preference.

p.s. anybody else using a MOBO with the 'new' ATX square 4-pin 12 volt socket? My 'ATX' (sic) PSU doesn't have this plug, but the computer seems to be working fine (11.77 volts reported by the CPU instead of 12).

EDIT: I've just noticed that Scan have sent me a P4PE-X/TE, rather than the P4PE-X. According to their website, the P4PE-X should have a BROADCOM ethernet controller, which is what I wanted as the /TE version has a RealTek (SIGH!!) ethernet controller. WHY use a RealTek ethernet chip, WHY? Better performance can be acheived using a potato chip For that reason alone, I would recommend steering clear, if possible of the /TE variant.
