every few months i try to go to one of my old high school teacher's concerts. he's into 'electro accoustic' music, and has a real cool studio/sound system. sound generator/sequencer is a kyma capibara (drooool), going through a digital mixer, which is amplified by four Technics high end amps, eight speakers placed in a circle.
he has invited me to come to his studio and work out some stuff.
this all is really cool and adds a lot to experimental electronic music.

so, what i'm looking for is something like the zplane stuff http://shop.creamware.de/shop2000/de/Sh ... =3rdzplane
500 EUR is a bit too much for my wallet, and the plug hasn't been updated in a while, although it still looks like a splendid tool. however it is over spec'd for my needs.
i would just need a mixer with this special pan pot: a circle with 8 'points' (speakers/outputs), 4 stereo out busses (for individual level setting, as most probably not a lot of us do have 8 exactly the same speakers). easiest would be to have mono input tracks.
i'd pay a reasonable fee, if most/all of these features where in the device:

* stereo channels
* 'circle/short cut switch': move the dot on the circle in a circular way (like in a smooth pan from output 1L to 1R, from 1R to 2L to 2R and so on) or cut corners (moving the dot just around the field, from 1L to 4R, by avoiding the middle a bit (middle should be all 8 speakers receiving the same signal), going to 5,6,7 to end in the centre,... you get the idea, drawing your panorama...)
* insert slots on input channels
* 2 aux sends/ return channels with it's own panning matrix.
* the dot movement should be automatable through midi
* 'strobo mode': the sound (best would be mono input) jumps between the 8 outputs in a random pattern. with speed knob/midi BPM, random panlenghts as well. would be really swell if this information could be midi recorded, too, so you could edit the results and turn off the function once ready.

wavelength got something like that in his v-mix. http://www.planetz.com/forums/viewtopic ... 1&forum=10
and a soon to be released plug got me inspired to post this wish, but the ambisonic, as far as i can see, serves a completely different purpose... http://www.planetz.com/forums/viewtopic ... orum=10&12

okay, thanks for reading chaps :smile:
