Hi all,
Well its been a little while since I last posted, let me fill you in on my situation of what all went down.
I was constructing a new DAW, my plan was to use a CW 15 DSP card so I went with a Power Pulsar II at that time, I spoke with paul a great deal who was a great help, he told what Mobo to go for to suit CW cards and so forth, I also use Nuendo 2.x as my host sequencer.
When I recieved the card I really loved it but I was having serious midi issues, no matter I did and with alot of tech support phone time spent (a few hundred dollars lol), I was at my end and figured I could not commit to the card and had to send it back, that was too large an investment to not be able to use its synths due to midi issues, it was drifting all over the place.
So I did what I did not want to and sent the card back, I have been lurking these boards every day since =/ I ended up going with a LynxTwo, UAD-1, TC Powercore instead at that time. Now a few months down the road I am getting that CW itch I had all over again and to my dismay I think I uncovered the issue I was having with the midi timing.
It seems in a recent version of Nuendo 2.x & Midex8's that in the sync setting if you have Midi Machine Control assigned to some channels and also have Midi Time Code assigned to a different channel it screws you timing up. I loaded up some hardware synths and noticed its timing was all over the place and after disabling MTC and only using MMC, my midi timing was back on track, so now I am POed lol.
So after all this info what I am wondering is, do you think its possible to rune a PowerPulsar II, UAD-1 & TC-Powercore in the same box with out having a PCI buss implosion? If this is possible I may just start saving up again and getting another Powerpulsar II card to replace the lynx and then ebay the lynx to recoup its cost.
Dont get me wrong the lynx card is insane it sounds VERY good I mean REALLY good, but I miss my CW synths..
My only other idea was to keep everything the way it is and search for an old XTC 6 DSP card so I could atleast use the XTC compatible synths and bounce when needed. This would obviously be the most reasonable approach but now were talking 4 PCI cards *cring*..
In all honesty the I/Os of the CW cards are not its selling factor but its 15 DSPs and nice sounding synths work well for me, especially since I am on the verge of selling off all my *analog gear and just keep my racks and digital boards, these days its too easy to create analog sounds, I could use the cash and the room in my studio lol:
- TB303
- SH101
- Juno Alpha 2
- Juno 106
- Jx3P
- Moog Source
So whats your take all? Can it be done, am I crazy, should I just look for an XTC card and be happy? I love the UAD and TC card like no other at this point, I could not do with out these, but Pulsar adds alot to the picture, so help direct me, I feel like a lost soul lol...
Cheers!

PowerPulsar II +TC Powercore + UAD1 = Yes -or- No? Need some
well, your idea once was the final conclusion in comparison featuring UAD, PowerCore and Pulsar in a german mag:
If you can afford, get them all !
There weren't any PCI issues mentioned in that article and one would hardly expect them when focussed on synths.
Delays and reverbs are most demanding in that part of the game.
cheers, Tom
