I first thought the deal between SonicCore and InDSP would be that:
- InDSP would take the ASB/Klangboxes line of product and further enhance it trhough new products (ASX board and now Plugiator) which was logic as InDSP seem to have design the latest hardware products from CreamWare (ASB and Klangboxes).
- SonicCore would take the Scope DSP board platform and further enhance it (the Scope 5 announcement seems to go in this direction).

HUROLURA, I thought exactly the same way about the relationship between both companies.

Well, I took the bait. I got the bundle, I gained about 8 very useful synths and efx which I didn't have, Keys generated instantly after paypal received. Very slick. Recommended.

Since the Klangbox's will never get anymore attention, this might be a good unit for me to have in case of an emergency.

If the Prodyssey can achieve 8 voice polyphony on the preset " Rich Pad ", I can use that as a guide to the unit's strength's.

Since Sonic Core is not supporting these plugs from Use Audio, I wonder how one could change transfer to another board? Wouldn't want that especially in an expanding set-up...

Well I thought of that concern so I had the bundle attached to card which had only basic authorizations. Now I can have two creamware rigs with an assortment of goodies. I have 5 cards, 3 pulsar 1 (4dsp) , 1 pulsar II 6dsp and 1 pulsar II luna (3dsp).

This got me a bit worried. I thought SonicCore/InDSP was a nice and warm relationship based on the idea that they would explore two different paths of the original Creamware technology. That would have been a good thing.

Now, I'm a pure Scope user and everytime I open up the topic list for Announcements here at Z, I hope to see something from SonicCore which would strengthen my platform - like SFP upgrades, new plugins etc. I guess that if SoniceCore makes good business, then it is more likely to take care and improve the platform. The teasers regarding V5 is simply something I love to see as it breathes some new life into my rig.

In my view, SonicCore is *the* company taking care of the platform: even if I click on Scope Platform at www.indsp.com I end up at www.soniccore.de.

Now, the emerge of Use Audio is a bit mysterious to me. It is presented as its own company being a customer of InDSP...but it is promoted by Frank@InDSP as if it is actually a sales channel for InDSP? On top of that, as piddl noticed, the similarities between the Use Audio and SoniceCore logos makes one wonder if it is a coincidence, a sign of relationship or a provocation?

All of that wouldn't have made much difference if it weren't for the fact that Use Audio sells Scope plugins. And that it does so in a fashion that I can't really see that it is intended as anything else than "a kick in soniccores ass" (well put, hifiboom). And if a company kicks SonicCore anywhere, it is simply a threat to my platform and I just can't see the good in that.

Dumping prices on plugins have been thoroughly discussed in this forum before - but at least the dumping then was the same company that handled the platform. If Use Audio does not have any interest in keeping the Scope platform going, then this is stab at both SonicCore as a company and its customers since this kind of dumping will lower second-hand values. (No, I am not planning to sell - I am gonna run my cards until the stop working).

Maybe I have gotten it all wrong and I'm upset over nothing. Maybe Use Audio actually do sponsor further Scope platform development in some way. Maybe there is a happy and warm relationship between all of these companies. Maybe this price dump was planned together with SonicCore in line with their own marketing drive to be initiated in 2008.

Or maybe not.

for sure there's no happy, warm and friendly relationship between these companies - there is (and was) competion without any doubt.

inDSP defines it's business target as developing for OEMs, so it's a natural matter of fact that you'll rarely read about their projects.
They could (for example) supply DSP core technology for the next big high end (read $$$) home cinema system and the seller wouldn't even want anyone to know what's inside.

Frank has clearly written they don't intend to sell as a 'brand' to end customers.
Yet they have the full rights to exploit the existing technology in any way - imho Scope4Live has hit the nail pretty well in his Poker comparison.

The involved parties will have to talk, and they'll certainly talk business...

To begin a busisness talk by putting a knife under Holger's Throat doesn't seems really clever!

At least, Holger's solution is easy: Change the activation keys with v5.0. Further attempt from inDSP will be piracy! And peoples who have bought these licences will have to stay under 4.5 if they want to use them.

Frankly, it will be quite a mess for people buying second hand Scope as they won't know from which company are the keys.

Perso, I never buy product from company behaving like this! as often they treat their customers the same way they treat other companies.

Let's hope there will be a friendlier behaviour from use audio in the future. Sonicore and use audio might in the futuer need each other and in such a small market, joining their respective strength could help to survive.
