yes,i know you'd need additional space.(about $10 a month more)....that's where i got the original $30 figure.....there are enough of us who use this forum every day to make it happen.sorry for the second figure.(brain cramp) c'mon let's fix this!

Garyb I think you mess up storage with bandwith. The 3$95 covers an extra GB Bandwith - not storage capacity.

from the faq:

Extra Storage

The charge for extra storage is $2.00/month per 25MB.

That's gonna add up pretty quick. To get from 800mb to about 2gb - we'd need an extra 1200mb/25 * $2 = $96/month!

i have no experience at all as far as these server matters go, but you seem to do ok, john  . maybe it would make things easier for all of us, if you could give us some figures: costs per year/quality of service for a few good hosts.
it would encourage more people (me included) to make a contribution if one can see what it's all about.

maybe then, people can contribute and a good host can be chosen after a round up. after that members can contribute at any time, so the fundings could/should keep coming in.
if there's a possibility of having some kind of Z account, we can see how much will be needed for the next 'season', and who knows (dreams dreams dreams), someday, we might be able to sponsor some human welfare program
it's easy, you know, it just takes commitment... (do a live show, sell your music to some of your friends and ask a little extra for the good cause) me and my mates from the soccer team have been doing it for more than five years know, with growing success.
it's good for the soul.

Trouble with your idea is, that each contributer will likely have to be willing to pay like 5 or 6% of the total cost. My guess is, that we are only very few, who have donated. My other guess is, that most of those who have have only done it once. I am one of them. I expected to redonate some time ago, but other things suddenly needed my financial attention. It looks a little better now though.

borg's idea is a good one.we can live like this until we get some money together...

regardless, thanks john for getting to this point.don't stress,we'll get by.....

Well, I'm stressed that all emails to planetz are bouncing, for almost a week now! I haven't been off-the-air for this long for like 10 years!!

I send you this mail yesterday, but it did come back to me, anyway here it is...

Hi John,

I noticed that planetz is running quite unstable for some time. And yeah, you got that cute little baby of yours, which is taking your time... and thats the way its best used rigth now.

What I want to say to you, is that I am the leader of a govermental institution in Denmark, and have like infinite web space, and a 45 MBit line up and downsteam, available 24/7/365.

If you have any problems regarding webspace or anything, I can offer you totally free hosting of your site. Too, I am a very skilled ASP, PHP, CGI, PERL, HTML and Java programmer, so if you need any help maintaining the site, I am more than willing to help you.

Best Regards,

Noah Laux,
AGA Thalamus...

I hope you see this somehow.

Well guys,

we made it to a new home  man, that was a stressful week. i had two other domains at featureprice too-- had to move all three in a couple days.

It's pretty clear already that this new server is immeasurably better!!! What a relief!

Thanks for your patience, and for all your suggestions.

Why don't you ask CreamWare to support? It wouldn't be too bad for them to host this whole site IMHO...
