Thanks, Marcus!
I thought this could be done without PCR View...

In win98se you don't need this option since the OS is much simpler than win2k/xp.

mano1, try setting creamware soft to low priority. This will let you play with any buttons, parameters in the creamware environment without crackles. At least it works with logic.
How do you change the priority on SFP if you run it in XTC mode? Since I never click on an actual SFP shortcut to start it...

i don't see why you would want to do that. changing priority is sometimes neccessary when you are in sfp mode, logic or cubase sequencer tends to stop when turning knobs on the sfp mixer etc.
you don't have the problem of two "heavy" applications running when in xtc mode.
ROCK!

This is interesting. So another benefit for running in XTC mode is better audio in Cubase.

Yes,
i confirm that it's not necessary to run XTC mode in low priority mode , since it's not as heavey as SFP classic mode.
XTC could be better, but i prefer the manual routing of "classic" SFP software. It's much more versatile for me.

Another (little&obvious) suggestion... when you run SFP in low-priority mode remember to close "Task Manager" , or it will give you clicks on audio each time task manager refreshes the process menu
[you should set Task Manager in Low priority itself.. but dunno how it can be done

I have uploaded a regfile giving SFP BelowNormal priority at startup in the presets and tools section:
http://www.planetz.com/forums/viewtopic ... 9&forum=13
It works in Windows2000 and probably in XP.

Thanks.
Could you provide us the settings to run programs in other priority modes too ? (in command line mode i mean in the /XXX format)
Thank you

Just right-click the reg-file, go for "edit" replace the word BelowNormal with the desired prioritylevel(See taskmanager for options). Save the changes and double click the reg-file, ok the messageboxes and restart your system.

I think the best option for everybody is to experiment with different priorities for all the programs they use and then find the settings that work the best. Then they can use the shortcut tweaks (except for Cubase) to make it permanent.

Sorry to jump in to this thread after being away for some time, but as a matter of fact you CAN set priority in win98 (or in ANY win32 OS). I used it all the time in disk- and cpu hogging tools I wrote to do burn-in tests on HW. It's a simple call that does the trick.
There exists a utility RUNPRIO which basicly does the same. It can be found here:

Hi,
it's quite a stupid question, I guess, but:
I'm using WinXP and I tried to edit the shortcuts they way you explained, and it worked for SFP, but not for Logic... that's what I typed:
E:WINDOWSsystem32cmd.exe /c "start /high E:soundLogic_Audio_Platinum_5.01Logic_Platinum_5.0.1.exe"
I'm told that my system can't find the path "E:sound..."
isn't it something like I may not type dots in filenames?

Are you sure your logic path has underscores? The installer uses spaces by default...

Yes, I changed all spaces to underscores, but it still didn't work. I'm sure that I changed them all because I copied the path into my message. So if the path in the message is correct, the one in the shortcut should be correct, too. You think the idea about dots in filenames is wrong?

E:WINDOWSsystem32cmd.exe /c "start /high E:soundLogic_~1Logic_~1.exe"
might work

...didn't work

...anyway, I'm happy that the priority thing works, and I'll happily change the priority everytime I start Logic...

but if you have any more suggestions I'd appreciate that of course!
Thanks a lot for your help so far!
