Re: XOR ASSISTANCE PLEASE.
So I'm going to investigate how to send CC messages from my VG-99 guitar box directly to some of the synths to see how much life I can get out of them.
Which CC's are you using, and for what?
<still having issues getting Xite and PCI running on same machine, so I'm getting ready to load Xite on my older PC and get on with it already>
Thanks again,
Greg

Re: XOR ASSISTANCE PLEASE.
I had zero luck and most likely will use another DAW as a streamer, and the card can help out via ADAT. The extra 16 MIDI channels is going to be very useful in case I have to start doing Orchestral stuff.
I am sending you a pm so we can skype each other about XITE-1.
I am actually Skyping with a few other users there as well.
Much faster this way.

Hey Jimmy,
Can you take notes and paste what you guys learn here to keep us in the loop?
Thanks,
Cory

Re: XOR ASSISTANCE PLEASE.
'd be great indeed, as I will probably buy me one during the summer too.
Else, I am trying now the CC2 and patches for XOR.
Where did you get the val monitor I can see in your mod patch, Jimmy?

Still getting things put back together, and then hopefully will be ready to get to work sometime later this week.

No Problemo Cory,
I shall continue posting anything worth sharing here.
We are past the " how many reverbs does it load " stage.
As we are all anxious and waiting for a final release, I keep discovering new tricks with older plugs and a few new ones, so I have plenty to keep me busy.....

Re: XOR ASSISTANCE PLEASE.
I can now get decent Doppler effects using the Mod Mixers & 2 LFO's.

Re: XOR ASSISTANCE PLEASE.
Just finished playing around with Xor myself - using guitar synth, and having lots of fun.
Apparently since I haven't purchased it yet, it only lets me do one voice at a time. When attempting to add voices, I get weird error messages.
Still need to sort out external controller methodology after I sort through all my options.

Re: XOR ASSISTANCE PLEASE.
I also have sometimes messages coming, when changing polyphony.
Even if I have enough dsp yet to use, it happened that the reorganization message couldn't stop coming till I add 1 voice up or down and then reorganized dsp.
Anyway, after that it's working great!
This synth is sick for electric modulated sounds as well as repro analogue sound (thanks to Jimmy for the patches).

Re: XOR ASSISTANCE PLEASE.
yeah, switching from 1 to 4 note poly took FOREVER, and gave some weird errors that I'll have to write down next time.
Also preset changes in XOR is very sluggish, and seem to half-load, and then finish loading for about 10 seconds.
Changing presets on other synths is much faster.

Re: XOR ASSISTANCE PLEASE.
yes, experiencing it as well. I imagine the internal schema of xor is quite complexe and it's maybe one counterpart of such quality (filters, osc...)
Re: XOR ASSISTANCE PLEASE.
maybe an update when v5 is finalized?
Re: XOR ASSISTANCE PLEASE.
Greg try loading XOR into an empty project window first so it loads on DSP 18.
Then add a mixer like STM1632. Use a preset on the mixer that loads your favorite effects being in channels or AUX's.
Assign the mixer to DSP7.
You should be able to up to 4 voices w/o any difficulties.
Until they optimize the synth at SC, and Assaf does his little fixes it will stay around that load, but you can load many if you want. I use 2 x SE-1 analog synths and 2 x XOR's to cover all monophonic work. One XOR has 2 voices w/ 2 voice unison and the detune trick automated, and the 4 voice second instance gets 2 voice detune for more melodic stuff.
Polyphony in XOR would be nice but it works fine like this for me.

Ah yes... Both of you are on xite.
It does also with PCI boards but since I have both genII cards, changing presets seems quicker.

Re: XOR ASSISTANCE PLEASE.
That's because a XOR preset doesn't just include knob positions - it loads new stuff to DSP: filters, oscillators and shapers...siriusbliss wrote:Also preset changes in XOR is very sluggish, and seem to half-load, and then finish loading for about 10 seconds.

I'm still trying different DSP assignments, and will continue testing tonight.XITE-1/4LIVE wrote:Greg try loading XOR into an empty project window first so it loads on DSP 18.

For now, since you and others have pushed the envelope with re: to the synths, I may push it to see how well it handles bulk tracking. I'm going to test 10 stereo tracks coming in via ADAT, 1 MIDI track, and then other aux/submix busses and such later today.
On last nights' little 4-synth session I ran 4 stereo ASIO tracks into Samplitude, but got a LOT of LAB's (lost ASIO buffers. This was with low buffer setting and lowest ULLI setting. Today I'm going to make adjustments to see if I can get Xite to perform as well as PCI.
If there are still issues, then I can only assume it's the shared bus on the motherboard that is causing issues.
The latest patch I received from Ralf helped a lot with DSP distribution, and I am no longer getting DSP errors.

Re: XOR ASSISTANCE PLEASE.
a new V 1.01 to fix the midi problems online,
http://www.adern.com/home/modules.php?n ... oad&cid=11
the DSP issue - on some cards (not all) the synthesizer has a problem with 4 voices , probably because of the DSP allocation of scope. sometimes if you choose a different oscillator it will give you the number of voices you need.
The best way to overcome this, is setting the synth to 5 or 3 voices. since the poly will not change until you release the mouse, you can safely change the polyphony to the values you know work best for you.
Since xor is made from low level math modules (to achieve its uniquely evil sound), it is kind of on the limits of what the hardware can take. xor is optimized to a degree i almost cant change anything inside without loosing voices, and that would be a shame.
It could help if the "on same dsp = per voice" that works great on SDK would also be featured in the final V5.. (or future versions). i hope xite will be able to play much more voices with ease.
cheers!
