BTW the UAD limiter is a very good plugin for pimp your mixes... :P

Alternatives: Sonnox & Waves, but very expensive!
4PC + Scope 5.0 + no more Xite + 2xScope Pro + 6xPulsarII + 2xLunaII + SDK + a lot of devices (Flexor III & Solaris 4.1 etc.) + Plugiator.

erminardi wrote:I really hate the gain battle in mastering!
I find the listen very difficult in these days because the dynamic is now only a far memory :(
My reference for mastering is a mix between actual recordings and the past master like '70 (Pink Floyd, etc.)
I prefer a bit lower overall volume but an intellegible and enjoyable listening.
The hard limit master is only for one shot radio passing, not for daily home listening! :x
I totally agree with you and this is my taste too...
but..sometimes it's not a matter of personal choice..When I work for somebody else than myself, they choose their final volume, and often they want it loud like the most of the modern products...so I would like to get it when I need it
Anyway, again, thanks everybody for your really useful replies!
I'll check the sonicworks' one. 8)

Jah Servant wrote:you can use optimaster for the compressor, but try sonic timeworks mastering limiter at the end of your chain, this keeps the punch. You can stay in the scope environment then too.
Do you mean Sonic Timeworks "MASTERING COMPRESSOR" ? I guess yes..please let me know thx
I'm gonna download the demo

Hi all
I have used T-Racks software, this is easy to use and has lots of presets. Not very flash and might seem un-pro but seems to do the job, is also great on loops etc, can be quite extreme.
I also use HarBal for eq balancing.

Just thought I'd mention these as we are on the subject.

I have just got a new pc with UAD and now use the Scope PC for sounds not the final job. But too busy to get stuck in, I might report back later on.

Happy New Year

yes, it's the mastering compressor, you'll just have to find which one you prefer, the hard or soft. I prefer the hard, I find the soft changes the sound a bit too much.
