cable whip=the bundle of cables connected to a 6 or 14 dsp card.

d-sub, a type of multi-pin connector used on many different electronic devices and their corresponding cable assemblies including the scope card with the aforementioned cable whip.

If freezing is still continuing and all the hints didn“t help, then try to change the motherboard.
Take a quality one with an intel chipset.

Well, let's compare our systems:
ASUS P5AD2-E, winXP Home SP2, Scope Pro, Cubase SL 3.1 ...
When I use STS-4000, the system crashes - sometimes after 30 minutes, sometimes after 2 hours. It doesn't matter if I build new sts-sounds with wave-files or only use it as a sample player.
When I write this, there comes a thought: I'll try the same with the 3000 or 5000. Let's see ...
When I don't use the STS, my system is rock solid ... :(
Perhaps Scope 5.0 could solve this problem, who knows ...

It's a pity, but the STS-samplers seem to work not properly under winXP, when you use a sequencer.
Wow, what a golden tip! I removed all STS samplers from my projects, replacing them with the samplers from Reason or Battery... and my freezes from hell appear to have vanished! Apparantly XP is very unhappy when Scope tries to access PC memory.

I actually got the STS Series to work, albeit not to my complete satisfaction, but its not freezing anymore in xp.

What I did was RTFM!,

No, seriously,

In the manual it tells you that to get the best performance on XP that you need to change your PC Role to Standard PC and not ACPI, that fixed the freezing problems for me in XP, However, I did lose some functionality, like I no longer can use my Extra core in my duo core system, and i'm having some USB 2.0 issues(read:speed) with my external drive, but since I rarely now use a lot of CPU power in Cubase, it kind of balances out.

Hopefully and like it was said before, all will be fixed in 5.0.

I did that and my PC still froze like hell. I don't mind the loss of those STS devices too much, since I think Battery and the Reason NN-XT are much better anyway.
