Any tips for reducing DSP load with STM2448?

A place to talk about whatever Scope music/gear related stuff you want.

I seem to remember hearing about some tips to keep DSP usage down when using this mixer.

Any advice? Seems to take quite a lot. I don't need any of the eq/comp etc...

Is there a better alternative that is lighter on load? I do need some AUX's.

The STM1632 take alot less DSP, and has 4aux, but no out busses.

Maybe it's enough for what you need.

Thanks. I'm actually going to go with the DynamicMixer as I found a way around my needs for Aux's.

Disconnect cabels for the channels you do not use.

Ah ok I'll have to try that. So far the dynamic mixer is a little too limited for what I need so might have to go back to the 2448. I did have a bunch of things cabled that I wasnt using so maybe that will help.

Well, you will definitely notice something. Actually, I think anything you disable in that mixer will reduce DSP usage.

Yeah, making sure the EQ and Comp for each channel is bypassed will release a lot of DSP.

- Disable the "mix" button for each unused channel (that little greenish-cyanish button at the bottom)

- Disable "monitor" and "aux" for each unused one (only turn them on when you need them)

- Mute unused channels (I can't remember for sure, but I *think* this might help...)

- Turn off unused 8-buses

- Use the 8-bus rather than the auxes, if you can spare them

- Minimize the # of MIDI ccs assigned, if any

However the biggest consumer of DSP cycles and memory is, as Voidar pointed out, cable connections.
