I know you mastering fiends out there will wish I compressed it more, but it squashed everything and made it sound flat. Maybe I just don't have a good enough mastering compressor...

first off all, i really like this one! i did not listen to the first version you posted, so i'm not handicapped

ok, to the critics now. to my ears, the vocals are a little to much in the foreground, especially the higher one. and the hihat (i don't know if it's a open hi) has to be a bit louder.

btw, i have the same problem with the mastering stuff... what do you use as mastering processor?

just read the old thread, and i have to agree to the other critics that the overall drum sound needs more live... i have a drum and some fine miks, maybe you'll come over to record

it's funny, I listen to hthe multitrack playback from sonar, and the vox balance is good and the hat is nicely audible.

then I listen to the rendered wave file, and I find that the hat has lost a bit.

then I listen to the MP3 and I go WTF! the high vocal has become more prominent, and the hat is hard to hear.

Damn I hate MP3! it really has nothing to do with what I recorded and mixed!

kantano, I'd be happy to send you a CD so you can really hear the mix. PM me with your address.

MP3 justs removes all the "air" from the recording. The dynamics are also slightly squashed, I really don't like it!

technology...pfft!

EDIT: mp3 is not good for your music but hapless the only way to post it in a proper size.

I can think of nothing more interesting than spending some time in Zurich recording drums! I'll have my people get a hold of your people and we'll see if arrangments can be made! LOL

Actually, it's kinda of funny because I have enough points on my VISA card to travel anywhere, can't say I'd thought of Switzerland, bastion of neutrality, though.

it does sound slightly smoother and brighter..

like the fx added at the full of trees part and the following dist guitar sounds better. smoother again.

i prefer the intro on the first one but i do like that effect on this one

i'm sure there is still that slight timing issue with the drum loop.in the first section... disaperes later in the track..

overall this is an improvement.

like the vocal..

ps tell me wot you think of my recent posting of a 6 month or so old track.

Heya nprime,

to me this does sound much tighter than the original and sounds very clean good work here! Sounds very warm and clean to me, I like how you fixed up, the drum track, that was a issue in the 1st upload.

In regards to the drums, for some reason I cant help but to wish there was a slight gated verb on the last snare before the high hats drop, it would add a bit more depth in some areas, maybe you could try and add a nice clean verb on the last note or every other bar, would add another dynamic.

Of course this is subjective

I like it though, has a nice clean sound, and the guitar sounds good too.

Not the kind of music I would listen to but to my ears it sounds like the vocals and drums are not blending in with the other tracks such as the guitar effects. The guitar is very interesying in places. I would add way more reverb to the vocals and snare and a tad to the other sounds so they blend more. It already has a far away dreamy sound but the singing doesn't sit right in the mix. Perhaps layering the vocals would be a good idea in this song.
