Just a couple of comments related...

The VIRSYN CUBE is a synth that implements this type of synthesis. It's pretty mind-blowing. In performance however, I don't see any way that you could use CUBE as an insert effect to process a SCOPE synthesizer. So that's probably a non-starter. But... you can use CUBE to generate additive synthesis and vary the individual partials in their filters. Like I said, mind-blowing. I look at it as a sort of 3-dimensional space representation of a sound over time. Their morph capability seems to give you a glimpse at the possibilities of that.

See also Chameleon 5000. And if I had one wish for a new SCOPE synth, it would be some kind of additive synth.

One hack you might try is varying a pulse width oscillator. You can vary partials pretty heavily that way. I think what they call ring oscillators also function like that. So you likely wouldn't have precise control, but it would give you a lot of variation in a frequency independent way.

in fact - I tried my best to understand that GUI approach

it's a fairly complicated way to a fairly simple thing you could achieve from the times of Wavestation on - imho a totally overhyped prog with a ... well, rather thin sound.

I can't remember any sound that was specific to Cube and couldn't be done elseway (in better quality) - so what's all that complicated math for ?

In fact I once compared it to Vectron (?), had forgotten about the routing and wondered 'hey, not bad - how did I miss that preset ?'.
I assumed Cube was on the mixer, but Vectron was playing...

sorry for the diss, but the German mags have pushed this in a way that my humble comment won't have much influence

cheers, Tom

CUBE morphing aside... it occurs to me that the SCOPE MODULAR program should let you create flexible harmonic filtering. They have to have some stuff in there that does multiplication and gain. So osc2 = 1/2 osc1 * somegain. I haven't dug into modular yet.

Other no-brainer here would be to use the "Tube Compressor" or one of those whacky filters. I mean, I would be some of those are just built to smack down odd-harmonics.

Just some more random thoughts about this...
I like the idea of math functions applied directly as modifiers though. See also some of the Waldorf synthesizers and their modifier matrix. Lovely stuff there.

How about:

1) Putting the original sound into your audio editor
2) Pitch shifting it - without changing the length
3) Reverse the faze of the pitch shifted sound
4) Blend it at low level with the original.

Ofcoarse, there will be a sweet spot, and above and below, you will get less canselation - and even adding harmonics when going even further from the sweet spot.

I haven't tried it. There may be faults, that I didn't think of.
