This thread is intended to include no questions - only peoples impressions of the Scope 4 software. Please do not ask questions. In the long run the thread will be more usefull, if there isn't too much talking back and forth. Also with long threads (wich this one will be, if people asked all sorts of questions) some people tend to ask questions already answered several times.

So basically: What changed?

SFP4:
New product line,
New logo,
New square device icons in
Project View with New background,
New allkeys file.

It seems to load a bit quicker, but nothing obvious has changed... Bugfixes anyone?

New system related files:

Linvol.dsp
Application.pep (not important ?)
dsp.idx
Pepbase.idx
SFP.exe

What about those new .oxe files:
sixstring, prodyssey, b-2003, interpole & pro-one. ??

The rest of the new files are just text, graphics, manuals, files related to new keys etc.

Only 2% of the download is new files.
the latest of the 98% was modified 27-11-2002. (Minimax.dev)

- Shows that Creamware had the focus on new plug-ins for a long time. (vs. SFP)

Please do not post waiting for keys replys/registration problems here. There are numerus posts like that all over the forum. It would be nice to keep this one thread informative and clean.

Well, devices load faster because their dsp distribution is more efficient...that should be very good..

It's difficult to say right after the installation - all files in all folders get created at the time installed. But the installation folder (Mac) contains all files, too and they have almost all creation/modification dates from 2002. Only a few of them are newer (March 2004) - the ones I've spoted are Midi Merger modules (there are 3 of them). But I don't know what improvements were done to them as the old ones worked excellent.

You no longer have to type out project titles manually in the gray bar. It's all automatic now based on file name.

yes, devices load faster. Good. And DSP usage seems to be narrowed. So most work seems to be "under the hood". The oxe folder is practical. No more download, just getting the key, doubleclick the oxe, input key - done. That's ok. Have'nt tested the preset saving yet...

:x But I loved complaining about that.

Also the cascading device menus on the LiveBar used to get all mixed up if you explored them too much. This seems to be fixed.

A 'What's new' file from CW would have been more professional. The read me file only had what's new in 3.1c.

Mac version installs XTC folder which it didn't before. There is no use for it as there is no XTC implementation for Macs. This looks like they started porting it to the platform but haven't finished it, yet - only the installer puts XTC plugins in the Scope 4 folder.
This seems strange as they once stated XTC can't be ported to our platform because Mac/VST can only have one opened window per plugin while some XTC/Scope plugins require more windows. To proove that look at NI Absynth - in version 1 a special engine opened to workaround this while in version 2 there opens one basic window and only when you want to edit a parameter the engin starts.

I think the square corners make the devices a little bit smaller. This is nice, when I load a lot of small things and connect them to a mixer. It is a bit easyer to see each one of them now.

Wave devices are now working. I had given up on them in 3.1c. Now I dont have to load every wave file into Cubase just to listen to it.

I noticed it loads faster too. Sweet.

And I noticed my hair was starting to grow back. Cool

I'm not saying this was related to the upgrade but this morning I tried recording 12 tracks at 24/96 and it worked like a charm. I probably could have kept on going but didn't want to push my luck.

Was hoping that the ASIO channels labels would have been resolved (with Sonar) but no such luck. No biggy. Not sure that's even an SFP issue.

I still get blue screens when I fiddle with latency settings using WDM. Also I'm sure they haven't fixed the multichannel crackling and so forth.

Thankfully Sonar has ASIO support!

Except Midi Merger modules which also still aren't highlighted when you select them.
