Yeah, I'm starting to come to the conclusion that there is WAY too much top-end on these monitors. Everytime I take a mix of any kind (CD, cassette tape, minidisc) to my hi-fi or beat box I have to cut the bass and boost the treble considerably to get anything like a balanced sound.gedas wrote:
Concerning the Spirits: These were my first monitors. I used them for 3 years and never liked them. My mixes would never translate well (ok, that's also attributable to my poor mixing skills), their highs were harsh, and the woofers didn't last long, had them replaced after a year of use.
I know I'm not the best mixer in the world by any means but what I hear on the Spirits and what I hear anywhere else is very different.
Bugger. I'm even considering substituting my hi-fi for these monitors (the hi-fi speakers are Bowers & Wilkins) as although they're 'hi-fi' they are probably better to mix with than the Spirits...(?)

Hi,
which B&W have you got? I've recently added B&W Nautilus 805 to my Mackies. They complement each other very nicely. B&W is excellent, although not very deep in the lows, but the bass is very tight, mids and highs superb, as well as the stereo imaging. But they need a good amp, I use them with Hafler 9505.
