@Hubird - actually, this thread's going the way I'd like it to... :smile:

I'm still confused! Nothing new there, then...

If a VU meter shows average values, and a peak meter peak values :grin: then it seems basic mathematics that the average signal will be lower than the peak signal, no?

So, if the peak meter's peaking at 0db, why then is the 'average' meter slapped firmly against +3 (probably higher...)?

Or do the two meters (I'm referring to the Vinco's meters here) use a different measuring scale?

Hi Counterparts

There is pure logic, that a VU-meter will give a smaller read-out (or is it reading or something else) than peakmeter, if feed with a sine tone. The peak meter will measure the peak of the sine curve. The VU-meter will also measure the signal, when the sine curve is not peaking. I believe a square wave should give the same result in a peak-meter and a VU-meter.
