Hi Everyone,
I'm running Cubase VST 32 5.1 (5.1.r1) and running Pulsar II SFP.
I have a whole bunch of audio tracks in Cubsase and I set up the left and right locators. i mute the tracks I don't want and do everything pretty much right and then go to Export Audio and export wav. It goes through the motions of exporting but the resulting file is two flat lines of no audio. I really do not know what the problem is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou. -

ps if i have effects running in Pulsar in the big mixer will they come out in the final mix through Cubase, if I finally get it working?

pps When I run a stereo synth in pulsar and record it as a stereo file in Cubase, it always comes out on one channel, never both. Any ideas?

What busses are your audio tracks on?

I had this problem the first time I dithered a stereo track using the 'Export...' function.

If I remember correctly, I needed to set the output of the track I was exporting to BUS 1 to get it to work.

(I use Cubase SL v1 by the way - I don't have experience with the VST versions, sorry).

Using SFP, you have to record in real time the mix output of the mixer on a stereo track in cubase, if you want to have everything in one file. after that you solo this mix track, apply dither if it's the case, set beginning and end points and fades and whatever native mastering you want and mixdown, through the master bus.

That's exactly what I do (as I mix in SFP)

Or you can do one step easier

Set a wav dest. module from your mixer out l/r, load up what ever wave editor you use EG: Soundforge, Wavelab etc etc, hit record in wave editor "this can even be midi synced in some editors", and start your song, direct routing to the wave editor

SFP is a little wonder..

Cheers!

Welcome to "Z".

First post, so we're not sure of your knowledge and that makes it difficult to answer because there are so many possibilities for why you have these problems.
Here's a couple of simple ideas that may help (apologies if they seem patronising - they're not intended to be).

Regarding your main question - in the mixdown dialogue box for Cubase you have the option of exporting between locators or selected track(s) - could this be your problem?
Incidentally, you say that you mute the tracks that you don't want to mix down. If I read you correctly, you're muting the unwanted tracks in the arrangement window - a common slow mistake I used to make.
Try soloing the tracks that you DO want to record from the Audio mixer. When complete you simply switch off the solo instead off unmuting lots of tracks.

Re your ps and the effects in the big mixer - it depends on how you are routing your Pulsar bits 'n pieces. I used to (stupidly) run from the big mixer to analogue dest. The effects of course wouldn't be exported. They need to be on the "other side", running in to Cubase.

Re the pps - not sure of your Pulsar project configuration again. Are your Big Mixer channels panned left and right? Are you coming into Cubase through 2 Asio channels (a pair)?

Hmmm - don't feel as if I've been much help in the end!

Cubase 5.1 always exports from bus 1, so anything on a different bus won't be included. SX2 can export from any bus or VST instrument channel etc, but still only 1 set of outputs at once, so Alfonso etc are right- realtime recording is the only option if you've got more than one channel in SFP to record......think of SFP as a real mixing desk that Cubase is plugged into. ie it's acting like a seperate piece of hardware- Cubase is another entity, with functions like 'Mixdown' being internal to itself.
