i have an asus p4b533 with 1GB, and three CW cards: Luna, Pulsar1, pulsar SRB.
until now i have always worked at 16 bit, being just an hobbyst.
i'm still an hobbyst, but i would like to switch to 24 bit. here there comes the problem.
if i open one of my standard projects (mixer 1632, reverb, optimaster, chorus, delay loaded in the busses and in the main mixer instert), simple switch my ASIO source from 16bit to 24 bit (32 channels), and then begin to make the connections to the mixer, at a certain point i receive the error "DSP overload - no more STDM connections from board A to board B" (where A,B=0,1,2), even if i have plenty of DSP left.
then, i decided to begin from a "blank" scope project, and load first the mixer and the asio 24 bit source (again, 32 channels). now i can connect all the channels, make the connections even to the ASIO dest for recording, then load optimaster, reverb, effect, etc...
but now two problems arise:
1) if i open sonar 2.2 and begin to record after a while i receive the "PCI capacity limit" error
2) if i save, close and reopen the scope project, i receive once again the "DSP overload - no more STDM connections from board A to board B" and i am not able to load the entire project.

anyone can help??
i think my music DAW is well configured, and i adopted all that was suggested from a lot of different resources.

nevertheless, i have very annoying problems... not because i NEED to record at 24 bit, but because i purchased this motherboard after having see it in a real recording studio at work with 24 DSP in heavy sonar projects... and now i don't know if my mobo is crap or if there is something that is not going well with CW (i also have some asio Click/crack/noise when i use a lot of DX/VST plugins... but even with 60-70% of CPU usage...) :sad:

I had this problem ALL THE TIME, and continuously (lost connection with board 0, not the pci capacity).

And this is caused by Pulsar1, which generate so much heat, that's it's nearly impossible to use it fully...

I have a Pulsar1 and Luna2.

Probably PCI communication is not very good with old pulsar1. Never seen this on other systems have 2 or 3 cards but 2nd generation (a mix and match of Pulsar2/Luna2/Powerpulsar).

I'm convinced it's really the Pulsar1 the cause of all this.

uhm... i can try to monitor its temperature, although i never notice it becoming too hot...
but if the pulsar 1 is the source of my problem, then i have to cry :sad:
even the pulsar SRB, according to you, have the same problems?

ciao

here same problems with
luna2 pulsar2 powepulsar
pci limited reached or lost
connection between boards
the system is old asusp2bf p3/733 786memory
i think is a soft problem too
sometime i solve this with reconnection
of 2stdm cables after this
1 2 3 time
the system(sfp of course) restart without problems

Not quite the same set-up here, but I was getting the same hideous error: 'PCI Overflow'....
I have Pulsar 2, SRB & UAD-1.....
Problem finally solved by changing ULLI settings- actually lowering latency sorted it out, but there are a few other points:
Some things I did......
Updated BIOS & Chipset Inf to latest versions;
in BIOS/video settings, increased 'AGP Aperture' to 256MB;
Disabled Graphics acceleration & write combining;
Disabled all graphics effects, used old-style start menus etc....basically minimized the drain on resources by anything graphics-related;
Disable any unused services (WinXP) etc....I put a post in Tips & Tricks last week with a few other useful tweaks.

Hope the dreaded error goes

[BTW my system: Intel D865PERL mobo, PIV 2.8c, Win XP Home, ATI Radeon 7000]

EDIT: Just remembered, I disabled PCI Bus Master IDE in BIOS too, although I'm not entirely sure what this has done.....system is rock solid though

did you mean that you lowered the latency in order to avoid the problems?

Yes, for some reason the UAD card causes PCI overflow at the highest ULLI setting.

Just been reading this about PCI Master IDE controller:
http://www.bswd.com/idems100.pdf

hmmm, might switch that back on

i tried using the ASIO 1 24 bit source/dest drivers and everything *seems* to be OK.i have to test the drivers with a lot of audio track, since i will record a band with the drums on 8 track, guitar, bass and voice.
i'll let you know...
