Hi, I'm new to this forum, looks like a great community. I have read quite a few posts now and haven't found an answer to my question here, sorry if this is something that's been asked before though:
I like the sound on the masterverb plugin that comes with SFP. At the time I can't afford bying any other reverb plugin either, and would like to use masterverb as an effect send to the channels in cubase SX 2 instead of the reverb that comes with cubase. I have routed an ASIO source channel to the inputs of masterverb, and the outputs to a ASIO dest channel. But I don't know how to make it a send effect in cubase.. If I choose the output on the send to masterverb, I can see the signal in masterverb, so the signal comes into masterverb. The problem is where can I set this to be the output so it works like a send? I would be really happy if anyone of you could help me.
Thanks,
Hallvard
using the effects on SFP(masterverb) as sends in SX?
I'm not sure about your actual routing now, but this is what I do:
1. activate one ASIO bus to output the tracks to which you like to give some reverberation with the Masterverb
2 chain the Masterreverb in SFP as an effect-send via one of the the mixer's Auxes, use the normal fx-returns of the mixer
3. use the send knob of the mixer's channel which receives the above mentioned ASIO channel to determine the amount of reverb
4. use as much identical routes as needed to create different send levels
Now you can output every track in Cubase to the ASIO output with the requirered reverb level
You just handle Cubase as a multi track recorder, with every track routed to a ASIO channel (bus) with the adequat send settings.
There's a more dedicated routing possible, it's described somewhere in the Tips and tricks forum, do a search.
It deals with using the sends in Cubase more sophisticated, but it's much more complicated for a starter.
I'd say, try the regular way first

I'm already using my sfp busses though.. :| but this should really work, I have heard other people doing it with hardware fx, and said that all you need is an extra input and output, i've got plenty of them
so maybe this is more a cubase question.. if I knew where i can select both in and outputs from the fx sends.. this was pretty easy in earlier versions of cubase if i remember right, but I can't find anything about it in the manual either.. maybe i'm too tired :|
thanks for the advice though! It's a really good alternative if this doesn't work

In Cubase, just add an output bus (press F4 for IO), mono or stereo as you prefer to send. Now on each channel's properties, you can assign that output as an Aux Send.
In SFP, you can use Mix2 or AuxMixer (3rd party, see Devices Forum) devices to merge the sends from ASIO and those from SFP Mixers. I don't return the Aux Sends to SX, since the latency -there is no latency compensation on ASIO Fx, only on VST- kills the effect often.
If you really want to return the Aux to Cubase, press F4 again, create an Input Bus and enable monitoring for it. Done.
Remark: I used this setup a couple of times, but stopped using it after I realised I prefer to process the ASIO tracks in SFP also. Tapping off an Aux Bus before the 'final sound' didn't make much sense to me. Of course if you only send a stereo mix or so to SFP, and there's loads of audio channels in Cubase, it would make more sense to use that setup.
I hope this helps

Here's my suggestion. Place a "Source" effect (input > ASIO channel X) followed by the reverb in an aux slot in the STM-2448 and use your Cubase aux send to output to the ASIO channel that goes to the reverb. If you don't have the STM-2448 or you've used up all your aux slots, you can still place the Source effect and reverb out in the routing window. You could also simply use the normal ASIO module, but I think that gets messy.
If you simply must route the reverb back into Cubase, have a Source > Masterverb > Destination sequnce somewhere in your routing window. Remember that introduces extra latency!!

Hi, thanks alot for your inputs. I made an output bus that went to my masterverb and then to my SFP mixer. Then I can choose wich channels who sends to this bus, of course. The problem here is when I then want to export a cubase project, then the reverb won't come in the mix.. but I don't quite understand this, do you mix your projects in sfp, sending each channel to a sfp channel, or do you use 4-8 busses and then mixes? how do you then export it to .wav/.mp3? Sorry if this is very elementary questions, but I want to get the maximum out of my CW stuff
thanks

thanks
This is the way I work which means you can't do exports. It depends on the way you want to work and what you are used to. I treat my system as real time and choose not to worry about export functionality because I only use the sequencer app as a tape deck and mix everything in SFP. So in this respect you would have to record a two track version in real time which is less convenient than doing exports etc.On 2004-04-13 16:04, Hallvard wrote:

If you use XTC you can do a realtime export in sx2.0 which will contain your masterverb, but that means you limit yourself to XTC mode.
For me, I simple just creat a out buss in Nuendo and send it to an asio source, and then apply the effects I need from within SFP works extremely well and is super easy, in Nuendo I just send the audio or VST track to the newly created output which will become a channel in my SFP mixer, then you can directly insert or use aux sends within SFP.
As far as recoding, I have gotten used to just opening up Soundforge and while having a wave dest module running from my mixout l/r I record straight to SF in realtime, I figure I have listened to the track so many times whats another listen going to hurt.
As an oddity, I some how think the sound quality I get by doing a direct record like this seems more alive for some reason, I cant explain it, but for some reason things just sound better like this than doing an export.
YMMV
Cheers!
