Somehow I just can't stop thinking that this 'no plugins for old users' policy has been made in a last minute. Probably that's why d/l of SFP4 won't be before eastern as they need to re-arrange everything. Also, that would explain why Fortune told us different info earlier and there is misleading info in their web site as well. Now there is just silence. Perhaps it's their way to tell us about the change, via few users who have spoken with creamware.
My purpose is not to fuel the fire or anything like that. Certainly this discussion leads nowhere. But this is just so strange.. I'll continue making my music

Wanted to say yet some words to complete: Perhaps we have a right to be a bit upset about all this misinformation, making beautiful dreams and then taking it away. But, I want to think, it's good that there IS an update. All I hope, this update for old users is more than just 3.1c dressed in a new clothes, with empty holes there, where those extra plugins are located for new users. I hope SFP4 really addresses the bugs we have now and perhaps enchances many aspects that would make the SFP4 as the best OS so far. We live in hope

CWA had better get some decent info out soon because they are shooting themselves in the foot with letting rumours run rampant for so long without any official word to either confirm or deny.
Even though Fortune seems to try his best, the information he gave is now countered by people who apparently heard otherwise from CW employees. Confusion like this should be adressed immediately and it's a shame there only silence instead.

once again,
1. those of us who have been around for a while already knew what the deal was, nothing has changed from past upgrades.......

2. be thankful for the upgrade, even if you only consider it a bug-fix.most companies making computer software or hardware wouldn't do this much. my nearly five-year-old pulsar1 is STILL supported! how many peices of computer hardware at any price could say that, especially when there is a new product(p2) replacing it?

you go CWA!

thanks for indulging me planetz, as always....

yo... but in germany the friday is a free day... and on saturday i think CW won't work tho... so the DL should be up today or tuesday (monday is also free in germany)...

... also CW told me last week that the SP4.0 will be up within the next 14 days. that means it also could be available after easter...
but i should stop now before everyone gets depressed

I think it makes much sence, that they do not release V4 before Easter. This week is short - counted in work days. In another thread CaBaMaN wrote this:
"Also the guy from Creamware told me the SFP 4.0 Software is checking the Board(s) and then you have to send them a mail with the "from the installer generated code or something" so you get new KEYS... i hope i understood him right.. . "
So with maybe thousands of emails comming in from users, they will deffinitely need time. Imagine the whining from people who downloaded the software and would have to wait ½ a week to get their keys.

I am sorry to say, but whiners are so loud and noisy, that they can realy dammage a companys reputation. Therefor sometimes companies need the adjust their plans in negative direction to satisfy the whiners. Maybe Creamware Audio could have put the update for download already 2 days ago? But then they could only process the keys for maybe 20% of the custommers. Imagine the rage.

Whiners realy do ruin it to themselves in many ways.

COME ON.

Nowhere has anyone from Creamware come out and said that we were getting a free ANYTHING. Fortune made some tentative statements about 4.0, but he is an INDEPENDANT contractor working out of his OWN office and completely new to the Creamware platform himself. Here is what he said about getting 'free' devices:

Hi,

Pulsar (Pulsar I / II) / Pulsar XTC will benefit update to 4.0 as SCOPE project

Power Pulsar like SCOPE SFP will benefit update to 4.0 as SCOPE professional

This was covered in the OT section but my DIETY how could such a vague post be taken and just run with? Soon everyone expects everything for free!

If you look at your current installer for 3.1c, you have several radio buttons up to and INCLUDING Scope SP and Powerpulsar. This simply means that the plugins will be installed, not that you magically get free keys too when you use said radio buttons. When 3.1 came out the bundled plugin pack was improved for new Pulsar2 and Powerpulsar purchasers. A small group of forum users complained that it wasn't fair so the same set of plugins was made available to 'existing customers' as the 'Pro Pack'. Then many of the same people complained that it wasn't fair because they already owned a few of those plugins and wanted to be able to choose other things instead with their 'Pro Pack' purchase.

Fast forward to NOW and we have a very similar situation only for some reason certain people chose to extrapolate on the quoted statement above and took it to mean that they were getting something for FREE.

As for Creamware needing to 'get some decent info out soon', has it occured to you guys that Frank & co. have been at MusikMesse? Perhaps Frank will actually come into the forums here and address these issues. Perhaps we will have to wait until they are ready to release 4.0 on the website. In either case I think Creamware can hardly be blamed for all the misunderstandings and rumors that have abounded here. Fortune is not to blame either, in my opinion. He's done a rather good job of funnelling information back to Creamware (remember the demo contest). Although I'm sure he's doing his best to come up to speed as quickly as possible, I doubt he had full understanding of what you guys were asking about in regards to getting additional plugins with the 4.0 'upgrade'.

Perhaps Creamware will have kindness upon us all and offer the 2 packs at a discounted price for 'existing customers'. Perhaps not. Either way it is not THEY who fanned the flames on these rumors, but certain people still insist on raining derision upon their very name. Ask yourself, who is really to blame? Why bother blaming ANYONE?

First let me say for the record that I did not expect to get those plugin packs for free in any case, it was only that post by Fortune that made me doubt. (and he does state he talked to Frank himself so he's it's not like he's making that stuff up). IMO it doesn't take a lot of extrapolation to read into that what people did.
CW created this situation themselves, or rather they allowed it to be created by not being clear with their information. I understand Frank and co. are at Musikmesse but they should have anticipated this surely when they release a new website and upgrade info at the same time, but the info is incomplete. So you have this incomplete info out there on the internet while you are tending your booth for a week (or how long does the Messe last?) and leave customer relations in the hands of a freelancer (no offence Fortune!) who isn't given the proper info either. Of course Fortune is not to blame, and I don't blame people on Z either who read from Fortune's statemetents that they would get plugin packs for free. I don't know if there is any one person to blame and it doesn't really matter anyway. I just think it's a silly situation which could have easily been avoided.
