Will spend some money and instantly fell in love with the sound of Prodyssey, but feel at the same time I have enough of traditional VA synths. uberPlastic (haven't tried it yet - will download the demo now) sounds, eh, pretty wild... Any uberPlastic users around who can comment on how useful it is in real life?

Well, that depends of definition of usable sounds !

It's a natural born wild screamer, it's angry too and can do also menacing drones, dark atmospheres, lofi massacres, wild FX ... but also some socially acceptable sounds.

I tend to build tracks around sounds that are just too good not to be used.

Try also SparC that goes also beyond VA and maybe wait for the forthcoming OP 8 that may meet your needs.

What kind of music(s) are you doing ?

Oh well... I ended up with the CW version of Pro One instead. I know this has been said so many times before, but the Pro One is nothing but a bloody monster! Almost as fat as the Minimax, but the modulation capabilities makes up for it.

One can only imagine what could happen with a third oscillator.

Ah, I see ... at least, you ended up with a VA and not Six Strings or B2003 !
I hope too CWA will push the emulations way further than the limitations of the original designs, let's hoping "+" versions in the future !

thanks for the interest! I think that my forth-coming OP-8 will fill a certain void in our current synth-arsenal here. please check it out when i have it done in the next week or so...

where my uberPLASTIC is a bit of an odd and eccentric VA (and snarly), my OP-8 is at once far more timbrally flexible, as well as being more refined graphically and sonically. i left so many things raw and extreme in the "uber" that it is very easy to make it sound rather un-musical in its aggressiveness.

my OP-8 is fully capable of aggression and flexibility, but I have taken great pains here in making sure that it remains very musical to use. i am currently working on preset patches and i keep going off on new tangents in terms of timbral-spaces and I am actually rather surprised myself how versatile this thing is, even without burying it under a pile of effects.

good choice on the Pro-One, btw... i use it often. i find the OP-8 compliments the Pro-One very well in a mix.

Haha... I'm not saying I won't get Über anyway. I like the sound! However, I'm a bit surprised re. the fuss about Prodyssey. It's good, but feels a bit unnessecary when we've got Minimax and Pro One.

If they'd done a proper job of Prodyssey then there would definitely be a need for it as the Odyssey sound is very different to Moogs and Sequential stuff - i just don't feel it had as much time spent on it somehow (this is just my personal view/gripe though) and it hasn't replaced my Oddity, which i use a lot.

What can I say I am weak

I started out looking for one and bought both.

I have Pro One, Prodessey, Flexor, Minimax was included in my synths and samplers pack. What can I say I was just too overwhelmed to make a choice for one of the other so I bought em all lol.

As far as prodessey goes, when I tried the demo I was not really wowed, but I gotta say now that I own it and startred creating my own patches the synth sounds very analog and has a truelly unique and different sound than the Pro one or the Minimax.

Oddly enough have created some pretty fierce bass patches on the Prodessey as well as some trancy sounds, and I find my self reaching for multiple instances in a mix of prodessey, go figure

Enjoy the Pro one, your right it does rock, I love the synth aswell.

Cheers!

Like Basic Pitch said, after some time I'am more and more pleasantly surprised by Prodyssey ; that said Minimax will always be my WOWW synth.

A big cat that purrs or a tiger that growls + weird good sounds too !

That's too bad. I was looking forward to you posting some of your famous presets for it.

Sorry scary808, i am a big fan of the duo mode of Odyssey (and Oddity), so unless i get Prodyssey bundled in some sales promo i doubt i'll have a need for it. However i hope to have good news regarding more presets and stuff in the coming months
