I am a modder.
When i "build" devices with Mod i work fast.
Very fast...and heres is where the problem starts.
It's a very small problem...but very anoying.
You know how it is.
You drag a module tweak here...tweak there...and then you accidently drag one of your modules outside your "field of viewing".
I hate this.
I mean some knobs are a bit small and it's easy to miss them when working fast.
I wish there would be a "lock modules in place" option/button so i wouldn't have "reedrag" my modules back into place half the time.

CW should really consider.....
Good point and I totally agree with you. In fact I was going to post a comment about that the other day when I messed up a patch doing just that, but got side-tracked. Yes, I often end up moving a module out of place by mistake and it can take quite a while trying to put all the modules back into a recognizable order. More than once have I had to remove and reload the whole .dev just to sort out an accidentally moved module.
I hope CW can implement this in the next update. Reaktor has this feature, which I have often been appreciative of for the exact same reason

I think that's a cool idea! Another one I've been thinking of is selection of multiple modules at once(via shift click) & either being able to drag, disconnect, or remove them simultaneously. Another idea I had is... say for instance you want 5 multi osc. Instead of having to drag each one, maybe have a numeric entry field at the top where you type in the amount of "copies" of the next selected module. Or maybe a repeat last module.
isn't there something like ctrl or alt + D in windows? a duplicate function? last time michu was here, he was cursing my mac for not having this 'duplicate thing'. me wants it to for mac, as well as scroll wheel functionalityOn 2004-03-16 17:18, scary808 wrote:

and yes, the moving modules thing is rather annoying...

That's right, borg...
Select a module by clicking it, then press Ctrl-D on pc. Click somewhere you want to drop the copy as if you'd drag it from the menu. You can copy to other patches. A module keeps its user settings when being copied. [edit] These user settings contain the modules knob settings and assigned CC#...

ya, this is a very good idea. (by the way I didn't know you could copy and paste accross windows)
About the "edit" and "performance" mode thing... max/msp has this. You can't do routing or even see the connections while in "performance". All modules are position locked. Only parameters can be changed. The entering "edit" reveals all connections and makes everything editable. You also have the option to choose which connections are visible during "performance", to keep the patch understandable. It'll be nice if mod had something like this. It would sure make other people's patch easier to understand. (like only leaving connections for main signal flow)
