Dear Pulsarians,
I have the pleasure to follow up on a great idea from this forum and announce the first official "PlanetZ sound demo contest"!
CreamWare needs better demos. Now that we are building a new much improved web site, the sound demos should be much improved as well. Please help us to bring the sound of the platform into MP3 format and supply your demo file candidates to THE JURY.
Demo files should be
* focussed on showing off the capabilities of a single plugin
* presenting sound capabilities, not a song
* supplied with a brief description of what we hear
* no longer than 30-40 sec
Whether you use more than one sound/preset or plugin; and how you use effects entirely depends on your "demo concept". Just the result will count, the more impressive the better.
We are looking for the most impressive sound demos for:
* Minimax
* Prodyssey
* B2003
* SixString
* Pro One
* LightWave
* Modular III
* Flexor
* Vinco
* PSY-Q
* Optimaster
* MasterVerb (Pro)
* SSB Effects
* ...
THE JURY is:
H.G. Fortune
Petar Juricic
Ralf "Dee" Dressel
Ralf Bach
Frank Hund
THE JURY will return a verdict on every sound demo file we receive whether we wish to use the file on our web site or not.
For every demo file that makes it to the web site, YOUR REWARD is one free CreamWare plugin from our online shop. You may submit more than one sound demo.
The DEADLINE for this sound demo contest and the latest date for your submission is Wednesday the 24th of March. THE JURY will meet for the hearing on the 25th. The short term is because we intend to launch the new web site still within March.
Thanks for your attention and we hope to hear (a file or two, or three) from you!
Kind regards, Frank

Just a few small question - Does this mean that you are interested in demoes for all CW-plugins or only those mentioned?* Vinco
* PSY-Q
* Optimaster
* MasterVerb (Pro)
* SSB Effects
* ...
Does it matter if the demo is longer than 30-40 sec's, if that particular demo want do the plugin justice within 30-40 sec's?
The reason I ask is that I have a few demoes ready but not for those plugins mentioned, and in order to really get the point of the demo, it has to be longer than 30-40 sec's.
Anyways, this is a good initiative, and it's nice to hear about some positive progression from Creamware!
Cheers!
Thomas

Demo length - ultimately, it is up to you and your concept. If you think your demo should be longer, make it longer. These 20-40s are just to give an idea about a meaningful "average" length - if the demo does not kick within 20-40 seconds it never will. If it only gets better after 40s - make it longer, no question.
Please use 192kbit stereo / 96kbit mono for your submissions. We will ask you to send a full-res .WAV file if your demo is selected.
Please email your submissions to sales@creamware.de
merci bien

Chris, i completely agree with you.
i think that everyone should post demo to CW in the future, and the best one should be published even without a reward.
for me even appear in the CW page as a demo maker would be a great satisfaction.
the basic idea come from the site http://www.garritan.com, where the actual user did such a huge amounts of demo without any particular contest (by the way... me and kensuguro are between the "demo maker" of GPO!

Great move indeed - I really believe that great demo sounds help a *TON* to promote a plugin or any product... Both songs and not songs, BTW, are important IMHO.
So... Would reducing the length of the tracks I built when reviewing MINIMAX and PRO ONE be good for the contest?

Good move CreamWare! I've bought products based on good sound demos before, so I think this is really going to be a great thing for marketing. When you've picked the tracks you like on the 25th, you should post links to them all over the Web site so nobody can miss 'em.
Now I'd better get busy working!!

Actually this was also how I understood it, I just wanted to make sure in order not to "waste" my precious time in this challange....On 2004-03-10 06:06, ernest@303.nu wrote:
My guess: "*..." at the end of the list means: any other plugin that you can make a good demo for. Right, Frank?

Question: do I have to use CW's presets, or can I use my own presets? I usually use my own presets.
Thanks!
