Hi all,
Well a long time ago when I had a CW card I had this wierd timing issue in my short period with CW, I had found a problem in my sync settings in Nuendo and thought that was the issue, well I just installed my new card and I am having the same issue, if I load up say an instance of Kickme, and do a 4/4 pattern and listen to a hi-hat on the kick or even just the metronome click playing, the kick is all over the place =/
It sounds horrid, the timing is just shot, I loaded a sample of kick me into battery where I was triggering the hat from and it was rock solid, so it must be something with the way I have the card configured or something..
Any questions let me know, ill be pulling my hair out here all night long lol...
Cheers!
PS. Random info...
SFP 3.1c
Nuendo 2.xx latest and greatest
Steiny Midex 8
CW PowerPulsar Plus
Using: Emulated midi drivers to trigger module..

Here is a link to some audio of it happening, not severe but way too sloppy for me tastes, would make creating my brand of music pretty impossible like this..

did you mean that solution ?

The Midi Resolution: It turns out that just a week or two ago I read about how Nuendo likes to default one midi channel to recieve MTC where as the rest can recieve MMC, if this is the case in a recent build of N2, it will cause you midi to sway and be very lose, so of course I find out that was my case, uncheck it and my synths snapped as tight as a frogs *umm* so now I must do the right thing.

it's from one of your recent posts
good luck, Tom

Gary,
Is that in XTC mode or is that with SFP? Also how do I eliminate the drivers, do you mean to manually just change the yes for emulated drivers to no? Also if I disable the emulated drivers, how do I then control SFP synths?
Cheers!

Hrmm,
Ok did the tip from the site you linked, that seemed to help some, but its still moving, want me to post another audio clip? I just checked my sync options, could it be something there, its sort seems like since Nuendo is using CW DSP Card as the master clock and it cant be changed it is not holding, its sways around and I can totally notice it, its killing me hehe, but that seemed to tightedn things up a little..
If ya want I can post another clip or update the 1st one..
Thanks for the help
Cheers!
UPDATE: Its not going so well, have a listen to that link again, this is not good lol..

Morning *YAWN*,
the only thing that could possibly be echoing I guess would be my Midex8, but I am guessing I dont "have" to use the CW Midi inputs right?
When I copied the "ignoreportfiler" to the main Nuendo directory, all of my inputs doubled, I had Midex 1-8 twice, (2) sets of CW emulated ports, (2) General midi ports, (2) MTU ports, and then the actual CW midi in/out 1 & 2 actually showed up.
At this point I went into the midi all directory and disabled all emulated ports, all MTU ports and duplicate midex ports leaving me with only Midex1-8 and CW Midi In/out 1 & 2.
This sort of helped and didnt help after alot of listening, it reminds me of having like an MPC2000 who is recieving a sequencer start message and also a message for its BPM, but once it starts it has a mind of its own, it can sway forward and backward, even jitter, I am testing this with "kick me" since thats a perfect tool for this.
If I lay a 4/4 kick down and throw a 909 hat on top of it, same 4/4 pattern as in the sample audio I posted, you hear how crappy and sloppy it sounds.
Welp, im off to work, maybe we can get some ideas today if any one thinks they might now whats causing this issue.
On a side note, ill call JRR and also Ali@CW today and see what they think aswell..
Cheers!

Hrmm,
Ill admit I copied the file and left it also sitting in the portfilter folder, maybe that could also be the culprit to a degree? But would that cause mass timing issues entirely?
Just curious do you guys you additional midi boxes such as the midex8? or are you usuing the CW out/in/thu? When I get home ill delete the file and remove it from the folder and the try that also..
I wanna get this working desperatly!
Cheers!

I tried that last night going out from port 8 on my midex to the CW (in) and using midi dest (A), I was getting midi, just not on target, how about in the sync options in N2, I am also using Nuendo2, I just updated to the latest build last night, I swear I tweaked some much crap between ports and sync I prob made a larger mess than I started with lol.
What options do you have checked off in your sync page? MMC/MTC etc etc?

I should also add, that the hat I am using as a click track of sorts is coming from Battery VSTi, this is 100% sample accurate and how I use my percussion, but I like those kickme kicks a whole bunch and would like to power them from the madule instead of samples, plus I figure if the kick isnt dead on sync wise then the synths wont be either.
Arggg, why do I have to be at work right now =/

I hope this helps:
Nuendo 2.12 (issue and solution)
(from Steinbergusa.net)
http://www.steinbergusa.net/Support/updates.htm#
Click on update and download a 60K PDF file with known issues with Nuendo and solutions.
Issue:
Adding a MIDI Track can disturb the audio engine. ASIO Sample rate can be changed or lost. If a Direct engine.
Music MIDI port (example: MIDEX 8 is opened for the first time (f.i. by adding a MIDI track), it may happen Windows Direct Music causes a short system halt, which can disturb Nuendo’s audio
Possible solution:
Go to Device Setup/VST Multitrack and do Reset.

Thanks for the link Antar,
Ill have to read that link, what they are refering to is when you have audio playing back, if you add a trackj during playback it will cause the audio engine to pause for a split second, which throws off the midi tracks in relation to the audio.
When I get home, I plan to un-install my Midex8, and also correctly try the port filter fix and see if that helps. I honestly cant figure out whats causing these timing issues..
Cheers!
