Greetings Pulsarians,

just a quick report: got a Pulsar II card last week - installed in Mac G4 400 running Digital Performer 2.72 - loaded OMS 2.3.8 - spent some hours learning the SFP system - got some critical help from the members of this great forum - made some tweeks, and viola -

The system works great! Very stable - no operational problems.

Important to: Open SFP first. load the project and then Open the Sequencer. Also important to be able to Start OMS by itself for tweeks.

The only thing I am not able to acheive yet is an audition keyboard thruput to SFP thru the Sequencer. This is even more baffling because I can play/record and playback SFP from the Sequencer, it is just the audition thruput when the seq is stopped and SFP is the front-panel app. I do not attribute this to SFP however - it must be an OMS or DP thing, and my ways around it at this time are to always be MIDI recording or playing back when programming the SFP synths. I assume that I will find a way to rectify this problem soon, it may even have to do with the MOTU MIDI Express.

Anyway - having worked with very unstable app's before - I am really happy to report how stable and GREAT Pulsar and SFP are on a Mac - and given the DSP etc my own POV is that I don't even think about OSX - what I have here is a self contained great production studio and OS 9.2.2 works great

thanks again to everyone for their help

and best regards

Dear Ed,

Time is coming you get the idea of what paradise is planetZ

While you find the way to tweak your DP, as in Cubase all you have to do is to set it "active in background", here you have a freeware midi router, so you can switch inside sfp wich midi source you want to send to your synths. Remember also that a single output can go to multiple inputs...hehe

thank you alfonso -

I am curious about what you have suggested. In my setup I do have "active in backgrouond" enabled (OMS) as well as MIDI THRU in DP - I have even tried MIDI ECHO in DP but that did not do anything useful

where do I find the SFP page/window that is shown in the link that you provide?

Are you saying that you can envision a situation where MIDI recordings would play SFP but not the keyboard controller thru the SEQ (record enabled) when SFP is the front page application? That is my situation at this time.

thanks alfonso

tomorrow i'll have a look at DP for the first time, but already had a talk with the owner. there seems to be a window somewhere in DP where you need to 'connect' midi inputs and outputs, right? from what i heard, it looks a bit like the routing window in SFP, 'drawing lines' between modules. then per track select channels. might be it is only since DP3, which she is using. don't know.

edit: seems i overlooked a post

That link it's to a PlanetZ page, called "Devices", where you can download tons of freeware devices and demos of commercial ones, provided by 3rd parties developers.
The device that you see there has been developed by a nice guy nicknamed j9k, and it's free for download and use for every SFP user. He has done several devices like I/O matrix's, midi related etc. on the upper side of his there is a File link. Usually his links point to his site, other peoples download directly.

Have a look to that PlanetZ page, you will be amazed for the amount of free stuff available.

I think you should definetly browse around this site..

Greetings Everyone -

double post bue relevant to this thread too:

Posted: 2004-02-11 21:42 UPDATE:

keyboard-thru problem resolved.

I found a hidden menu on DP to enable "FREEMIDI" thru in background - and although I am using OMS that seemed to do the trick

system working 100% fine (have not checked the ADAT inputs yet but I assume they will track)

Pulsar SFP on a MAC is real cool! No complaints! Highly recommended!

thanks for the heads up re: free modules alfonso

as always best wishes
