I have recorded some audio (wav) tracks. I would like to get different SFP effects (delay, reverd etc) on separate tracks in Logic or Sonar. Any advice.

i buss them out of the sequencer into 2448 mixer, and use aux and insert fx, and record the output.

but perhaps you should look at xtc, i'm not quite sure what you need to do.

So you want to mix outside logic? First be sure to have asio modules set to as many channels as your logic allows in your project. Then set each channel in Logic to different outs. That way the channels behave as direct outputs though they come via Logic's master faders.

Thanks for the replies. Samplaire that is exactly what I was trying to do. Get the asio outs on different tracks in Logic or Sonar. I would try it later and let you know.

I got it right. Is there a way to Bounce that mix or do I have to mixdown to adat,minidisc etc?

Route the Mix L&R outs of the mixer back into a channel in Logic, make sure the output of the Logic channel is set to outputs 1 & 2 (or whatever available), route Logic's outputs to the physical output of your CW card, click bounce on the master fader in Logic(make sure it's fed by the afformentioned output), follow the prompts thereafter & Voila! You have a stereo mix!

It is possible! You have to have one pair of free asio inputs and outputs for it to be done. Just assign the main out from your SFP mixer to the pair of inputs and record enable a track with in your sequencer - but remember that this track output should be set to this free pair of outputs - other way you'll get a feedback loop - be aware of it (ouch!). This pair of asio outputs can be routed directly to your cards phisical outs

Nope, if all is mixed out of logic there would be no signal or a dry signal in the bounced file (if ALL is routed to SFP)

In addition to my earlier post, you have to record your stuff into logic (AFAIK) or if it is the logic version with an ability to bounce online - create a live input object and proceed with bouncing

If you ever did want to mix in Logic, there is an awesome feature to help you use DSP plugins as inserts.

In Logic's helpers(I think)plugin section there is a plugin called I/O. What the heck is that you say! It's an ASIO I/O. Say you wanted to use the CW compressor as an insert in Logic. In the SFP routing window connect the compressor to say ASIO out 5&6 then to ASIO out 5&6. After loading the Logic I/O plugin set its out to ASIO 5&6 & it's in to ASIO 5&6. You now would be using the CW compressor as an insert as if it were a Logic plugin.

Another cool thing is SFP has something that works the same except it would enable you to use a Logic plugin as an insert on a CW mixer. It's called External Effect. This goes a step further & allows you to either use a software I/O(ASIO)or your CW cards hardware I/Os(digital or analog)as an insert. You could use that sexy Logic Tape Delay or even an external reverb unit inserted on an aux return. How cool is that!

This may sound a little confusing but soon you'll be patching & routing Like a champ!

Recently I disscused this topic in several forums including PlanetZ, Sonicmatter (it was about realtime to offline bounce difference topic). The I/O plugin as well as audioinput objects are only Logic Platinum advantages. While I can't afford the Platinum I can't be in that comfortable situation as you are but man can live without those

P.S.
The I/O plugin is the only thing from all other Platinum or Gold only options which I would love to have. If only somebody could make such VST plugin (for Mac)... hmmm...

One important thing though. Latency is a big issue when using this plugin. I tried at the highest latency to see the result and got a big slapback effect from the signal leaving Logic going through ASIO into my CW effect back through ASIO to the Logic buss.

But it works GREAT!
