Greetings all -

is it neccesary to run OMS if one is not using the MIDI i/o on the Pulsar II card?

Right now on using MOTU DP 2.72 w/Freemidi and a USB MIDI interface - that all works very well.

Would much prefer to avoid OMS (many years experience )

thanks for your input -

If your system works then i don't see why you'de need OMS, though i haven't had huge problems with it myself - OMS 2.3.8 and if you're using a USB MIDI port (like i do too) then don't even bother with the Pulsar MIDI port - i never found it very reliable.

If i remember right, you should get a copy of USB Floppy Enabler in your Extensions which helps USB functionality in OS9, even if you're not using a floppy drive (ask yer Granddad).

When you use it for audio only - it's not necesary. But when you use any MIDI then it is (regardless it's MIDI from your Pulsar/Luna hw port or just SFP synths or you automate your SFP mixers/fx)
